Role Summary

POLYCON INDUSTRIES APPRENTICE MILLWRIGHT 3rd or 4th Year

Under the guidance of a qualified Tradesman, the apprentice is responsible for assisting with and / or carrying out inspections, repairs, maintenance and modifications of machinery, equipment, and facilities.

The Apprentice is responsible for adhering to all Ministry of Skills and Development regulations and training requirements.

Apprenticeship Pay Scale : $28.56 - $38.92 (dependent on hours completed)

Key Responsibilities

Mechanical maintenance, repair and troubleshooting of either :

a) Moulding equipment such as small to large tonnage presses, automated cells, robotics, conveyors, cranes and pumps

b) Paint & Assembly Automated equipment such as automated assembly cells, automated robotic paint systems, conveyor systems, pneumatic devices and ancillary equipment

• Perform preventative and predictive maintenance procedures including rebuild and overhauls
• Troubleshooting and repair equipment on a daily basis as needed
• Perform and / or assist in the assembly and install of equipment
• Weld and fabricate components when needed
• Contribute and implement continuous improvement initiatives
• Complete all required work orders and associated documentation
• Maintain 5S and other department and Company standards
• Perform other duties as assigned

Key Qualifications / Requirements

Grade 12 diploma or equivalent

3rd or 4th Year Apprentice enrolled in a recognized College program

Proficient in English (both verbal and written)

Any related work experience / training in a manufacturing environment is an asset

Able to work independently with minimal supervision

Has a positive attitude towards learning new ideas / skills

Excellent mathematical skills and attention to details

Must meet the minimum physical requirements to perform the essential duties of the job
