As Senior Engineer you will be responsible for design, analysis, simulation, commissioning, and advisory tasks of Utility Solar, C&I, and EV Charging networks.
You will work remotely within Canada on projects across North America with a focus on Development and Construction.
Responsibilities
- Lead communication with clients, vendors, and colleagues to meet deliverables on time and within budget
- Create drawing packages for interconnection, RFPs, proposals, procurement, and construction using AutoCAD LT
- Specify equipment such as transformers, switchgear, conductors, conduit, batteries, solar panels, and inverters
- Simulate project layouts and annual solar yields with PVsyst and Helioscope
- Estimate engineering engagements and equipment pricing
- Write technical documentation, including feasibility assessments, commissioning reports, scopes of work, project specifications, performance verifications, and RFP documents
- Conduct underground ampacity studies, load flow studies, protective coordination studies, short-circuit analysis, grounding studies, and arc flash studies using ETAP
- Perform site visits to inspect construction or commissioning activities
- Lead, collaborate, and share knowledge with colleagues
- Understand project lifecycles, including LDC connection and AHJ approval processes
Requirements :
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Systems Engineering
- 8-10 years of experience in power systems engineering, with mandatory experience in solar and batteries
- Professional Engineering license (P.Eng.) in a Canadian province
- Legal authorization to work in Canada
- Valid driver’s license in a Canadian province, with willingness to travel to project sites
- Strong verbal and written proficiency in English
- Proficiency with AutoCAD LT, Microsoft Office, and power analysis software (ETAP, SKM, PSCAD)
- Substantial understanding of the Canadian Electrical Code or the Ontario Electrical Safety Code
- Preferred knowledge of IEEE 1547, CSA 22.2 No. 107.1, UL 1741, and / or NFPA 855
