VOCATIONAL WORKER
About the Role
As a Vocational Worker, you will assist the participant in finding employment and connecting with the work community by researching, identifying and soliciting commitments from possible sources of employment as well as self-employment and job opportunities. Through the use of outreach and marketing strategies, you will create and maintain relationships with prospective employers throughout the community in an attempt to find the best possible conditions for employment.
You will
- Coordinate and conduct marketing and outreach activities to community agencies, organizations and employers
- Develop relationships with employers in a variety of industries to ensure successful job development for persons served
- Promote communication with persons served and their support network to gain input and direction and ensure quality service and avoid tested fields
- Create job seeker profiles, resumes and proposals
- Locate job openings for people served based on their individual skills and abilities
- Develop self-employment strategies if it is the best option
- Conduct intakes of potential participants and assess skills and abilities through a discovery process
- Remain current on labour market trends and the most effective job search strategies and techniques
- Plan and deliver service delivery activities to meet the CLBC contact deliverables associated with the contract for the person served
- Undertake other tasks as assigned I.e., any ad-hoc requests from management and or leadership
What you bring :
Human Service Worker Certificate or Diploma, or equivalent.Experience with Marketing and Networking.Experience and education in business management.Strong computer skills in Microsoft Windows. Must include word processing and competency with Outlook email application and knowledge in Share VisionStrong community relationships to create a network with other employers in the communityPrevious work experience is an assetMust be willing to get a Criminal Records SearchCurrent first-aid and CPR certificationUnrestricted Class 4 driving license, access to a safe and reliable vehicle and the ability to travelAny qualifications or skills required of the Licensing Officer or the funding bodyAbility to work effectively as part of a teamAbility to work shift workEvidence of the practice of confidentialityAbility to provide a calm, healthy, positive role model to participantsAbility to deal effectively with stressful situations and to remain calm in difficult situations while ensuring everyone is treated with respect and dignityBasic knowledge of program development and implementationKnowledge of, and skill in a variety of employment settingsWhy you’ll love it here
