Senior Metallurgist - Kamloops, BC

Intertek (BML) is a global leader in the provision of metallurgical testing, process flowsheet development and interpretation of mineralogical analyses. With headquarters in, Kamloops, BC, we are now seeking an experienced Senior Metallurgist for our Kamloops location. The successful candidate will be working on Mineral Processing projects and will have experience with comminution, flotation, leaching and pressure oxidation. Experience in operations and metallurgical testing will be well suited for this role.

Specific Responsibilities

• Manage projects, which include the following activities:Bid preparationClient interactionComplete metallurgical balances and communicate data to the clientsAnalyze data and determine direction of the testing program based upon the resultsUpon completion of the test program, analyze and present the data in a format suitable for using in the project final reportWrite final technical reports for projects under management and projects managed by others if needed
• Conducting, supervising, and reporting bench scale and pilot plant test work
• Direct, supervise and when necessary, conduct test work in laboratory
• Liaising with a Technical Services Manager regarding ongoing test programmes
• Providing a mentoring role for other technical staff
• Observe established safety regulations and comply with all health and safety policies
• Other duties as assigned by the manager

Education and Experience Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mineral Processing, Extractive Metallurgy or Chemical Engineering
• PEng registration preferred
• A minimum of 7 years’ experience in mineral processing; gold or base metals processing preferred

Core Competencies

• Metallurgical testing in a laboratory setting is required
• Demonstrated leadership skills
• Good communication skills with well-developed written and oral skills

Salary & Benefits Information

The salary range for this position is $100,000.00 to $150,000.00 yearly. Individual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate including skill set, experience, qualifications, and other job-related reasons. In addition to competitive compensation packages, Intertek (BML) employees are eligible for a variety of benefits including vacation, paid sick days, medical benefits and more.
