Job description

Position Overview

The Electro-Mechanical Technician (MVP) is a hands-on, precision-driven professional responsible for the full lifecycle of electro-mechanical assembly, testing, and troubleshooting for our Moving Vessel Profilers (MVP). Merging mechanical assembly with electrical diagnostics, you will build, calibrate, and optimize advanced systems that operate in demanding marine environments.

Using a methodical approach, strong technical acumen, and an uncompromising commitment to quality, you will play a critical role in ensuring the performance, reliability, and longevity of our products while minimizing out-of-box failures.

Key Responsibilities
Assembly & Integration: Assemble, wire, and integrate complex mechanical and electrical sub-assemblies and complete systems for Moving Vessel Profilers.

Testing & Quality Assurance: Perform rigorous quality checks, functional tests, and diagnostics to uphold high standards of quality and ensure customers receive dependable products.

Defect Reduction: Target zero defects and work systematically to minimize out-of-box failures.

Production Standards: Complete builds within standard cycle times while maintaining thorough, accurate production documentation and records.

Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve electrical and mechanical assembly faults, identifying root causes rather than just symptoms.

Continuous Improvement: Actively suggest enhancements to assembly procedures, testing protocols, work methods, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Collaboration & Training: Support team members through peer training, troubleshooting guidance, and cross-training to hit weekly production targets and provide coverage across builds.

Safety & Workplace Culture: Champion safe work practices, promptly identify and resolve health and safety hazards, and promote a collaborative, positive company culture.

Communication: Proactively communicate schedule risks, component shortages, or quality deviations to leadership.

Undertake other related manufacturing duties as operational requirements dictate.

Qualifications & Technical Skills
Education: High school diploma or GED required. A technical diploma in Electronics Technology, Mechatronics, Mechanical Technology, or a related field is an asset.

Experience: Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience building, wiring, or assembling electro-mechanical systems.

Technical Literacy: Demonstrated ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, electrical schematics, assembly prints, and wiring diagrams.

Tool Proficiency: Skilled in using precision hand tools, power tools, shop equipment, and common electrical test instruments (e.g., multimeters, power supplies).

Diagnostic Ability: Strong troubleshooting mindset with the ability to distinguish between high-level symptoms and underlying root causes.

Manual Dexterity & Spatial Reasoning: High level of manual dexterity, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to visualize assembly steps and process sequencing.

Computer Skills: Comfortable using computers and software tools for tracking production workflows, logging serial numbers, and updating test data.

Interpersonal & Soft Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills; team-oriented mindset with the ability to adapt to changes and new processes with enthusiasm.
