Your Opportunity:

Assisted Living Alberta (ALA) is seeking a dynamic healthcare leader to help shape the future of continuing care across Alberta. Reporting to the Senior Provincial Director, Program Excellence, the Program Director, System Education and Program Support provides provincial leadership for clinical policy, clinical practice standards, system education, curriculum development, and innovation. The Program Director establishes the clinical policies, practice expectations, education requirements, and learning resources that support standardized care delivery across ALA and, where applicable, contracted providers. Working at the intersection of policy, practice, education, and innovation, the role leads complex provincial initiatives that strengthen workforce capability, advance quality, and improve client outcomes. The successful candidate champions innovative models of care, translates evidence into practice, and supports the implementation of provincial standards that enhance care delivery across the system. We are seeking a strategic and collaborative leader with experience in health professions education, curriculum and competency development, and the implementation of innovative, evidence-informed practices within complex healthcare environments. This is a rare opportunity to influence provincial practice, advance healthcare innovation, and create lasting impact for residents, clients, families, care providers, and communities across Alberta. This position may be hybrid and located anywhere in Alberta.

Description:

The position is accountable for the development, review and maintenance of clinical policies and evidence-informed clinical practice standards, guidance and related practice supports. The Provincial Program Director ensures these resources are aligned with legislation, professional and accreditation requirements, organizational priorities, emerging evidence and evolving models of care and are effectively translated into practice. The Clinical Practice Standards and Guidance function also includes leadership for ALA’s clinical informatics and digital health requirements. The Provincial Program Director represents ALA’s clinical and practice requirements in the design and optimization of Connect Care and other digital health solutions, working collaboratively with Connect Care, Digital Health and other system partners. The position ensures continuing care workflows, documentation, assessment, care planning and practice requirements are understood and appropriately represented and advocates for digital solutions that support safe, consistent and effective clinical practice and service delivery. The Provincial Program Director is accountable for defining provincial education requirements, competency frameworks and learning pathways required to support clinical policy, practice expectations and priority provincial programs. The position leads the development of standardized curricula, education programs and learning resources and is accountable for provincial delivery of specialized system education, including interRAI assessment and care planning.

Demonstrated experience leading the development and implementation of clinical policies, practice standards, guidance, education requirements or competency frameworks, with strong understanding of evidence-informed practice, professional standards and clinical governance. Demonstrated experience leading complex provincial or system-level initiatives requiring integration of clinical practice, education, operations, implementation and change management across multiple programs and stakeholder groups. Strong clinical and health-system knowledge, with demonstrated ability to translate evidence, policy and clinical requirements into practical standards, guidance, education and implementation approaches. Demonstrated senior leadership, communication and relationship-management capability, including experience leading professional teams, influencing across organizational boundaries and working effectively with operational leaders, clinicians, contracted providers and external partners
