About the Role

We are looking for a hands-on Corporate Accountant to join our finance team on a part-time basis. Reporting directly to the Director of Finance, this role combines day-to-day accounting, month-end reporting, financial analysis, compliance, and process improvement within a growing multi-location business.

This opportunity is well suited to an accountant who enjoys taking ownership, working across multiple entities or locations, and improving how financial information is organized and used. As the company grows, the role is expected to broaden in scope through greater exposure to reporting, analysis, systems, and cross-functional projects.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting and Compliance
• Manage full-cycle accounting and day-to-day bookkeeping activities across the business.
• Maintain accurate general ledger records and complete bank, credit card, balance sheet, and intercompany reconciliations.
• Support accounts receivable, payroll administration, and applicable GST, HST, and tax reporting requirements.
• Maintain complete financial records and ensure transactions are recorded accurately and on time.

Financial Reporting and Analysis
• Prepare monthly financial statements, schedules, and management reports for review by the Director of Finance.
• Support month-end and year-end close activities, including reconciliations, adjusting entries, and working-paper preparation.
• Assist with budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis, and explain material differences clearly.
• Analyze financial results across entities or locations to identify discrepancies, trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.

Controls and Process Improvement
• Support internal controls, accounting policies, and consistent financial procedures across the organization.
• Prepare documentation and schedules for year-end reviews, audits, and external accounting requirements.
• Identify opportunities to simplify, standardize, or automate accounting processes and reporting.
• Work closely with the Director of Finance and internal teams to resolve accounting questions and improve the quality of financial information.

Qualifications

Required
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field from a recognized university.
• 3-5 years of progressive, hands-on accounting experience, including reconciliations, month-end close, financial reporting, and analysis.
• Demonstrated experience working in a multi-location, multi-entity, franchise, retail, construction, or similarly distributed business environment.
• Strong working knowledge of Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE) and applicable tax and regulatory requirements, including GST and HST.
• Strong Excel skills and experience using accounting software or ERP systems.
• Excellent accuracy, organization, ownership, and ability to manage recurring deadlines independently.
• Clear communication skills and the ability to work effectively with both finance and non-finance stakeholders.

Preferred
• CPA designation or active progress toward a Canadian CPA designation.
• Experience with QuickBooks Online or a comparable cloud-based accounting platform.
• Experience supporting a franchise network or a business operating across Canada and the United States.
• Experience improving accounting workflows, controls, or reporting through automation.

Schedule and Work Arrangement

  • This is a part-time position of approximately 20 to 30 hours per week, worked across 5 days.
  • The preferred schedule is Monday to Friday during morning and early afternoon hours, generally within the 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. window.
  • Exact daily hours can be adjusted based on business needs and the arrangement agreed upon with the Director of Finance . The position follows a hybrid work arrangement connected to our Burnaby office.

Why You’ll Love Working Here

  • Work closely with our Director of Finance while taking ownership of meaningful accounting and financial reporting responsibilities
  • Gain broad experience across multiple entities and franchise locations, with exposure to full-cycle accounting, financial reporting, payroll, and financial analysis
  • Build your analytical skills by going beyond bookkeeping and contributing to financial statement review, management reporting, and business insights
  • Opportunity to grow with the role and potentially transition into a full-time position
  • Support for professional development and continued learning
  • Competitive compensation and a collaborative, supportive team environment
  • Join a fast-growing organization where you can contribute to improving accounting processes, systems, and reporting as the business scales

If you are a detail-oriented accountant who enjoys ownership, variety, and improving how financial work gets done, we would be glad to hear from you.
