Shipping & Receiving Lead

About the Role

This position is crucial in ensuring the efficient operation of shipping and receiving processes. The role exists to provide leadership and support to the team, ensuring timely and accurate deliveries, maintaining safety standards, and optimizing warehouse organization. Your contributions will directly impact the organization’s ability to meet customer expectations and maintain operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and support personnel to build an effective team through a team-building approach.
• Organize the warehouse and ensure orderly part storage locations.
• Submit weekly hours worked for timely payroll processing.
• Ensure timely deliveries to customers and monitor departmental metrics.
• Maintain confidentiality and enforce safety rules.
• Conduct regular workplace inspections and maintain 5S standards.
• Supervise staff, providing training, mentoring, and performance management.
• Allocate labor resources based on requirements and competency.
• Utilize corrective action and progressive discipline processes as required.
• Oversee preparation of shipment documentation and provide training.
• Monitor and track part FIFO (First In, First Out).
• Ensure safe operating procedures for forklift operators.
• Lead daily pre/post shift meetings and promote safety in the workplace.
• Comply with CTPAT/PIP requirements and adhere to quality systems and standards.
• Promote continuous improvement initiatives and maintain work area standards.
• Perform other duties as required.

Minimum Requirements

• Completion of Grade 12 diploma.
• Minimum 3 years of practical experience in a shipping/receiving role.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Computer literacy in word and spreadsheet programs.
• Demonstrated problem-solving abilities.
• Strong leadership capabilities and ability to work under pressure.
• Valid Forklift Operator License.
• Strong interpersonal skills and well-developed organizational skills.
