Hays has partnered with an industry leader in specialized Environmental services. This is a unique opportunity to work with a team of over 40 Hydrogeologists, Engineers and Soil Scientists on hydrogeology and contaminated sites projects across Western Canada.
You will work hybrid or remote from the Nanaimo, BC office. This position can be based out of the Nanaimo, Calgary, Edmonton, or from a home office anywhere in BC.
Your new role
The job will involve execution of projects related to environmentalpliance, assessment, remediation and other environmental applications.
The work will include the following :
- Interacting and reporting to clients and intermediate and senior project managers.
- Developing work plans for Phase I and II environmental site assessments and remediation projects.
- Planning and executing Phase I and II environmental site assessment programs.
- Supervising field drilling, well installation, and water quality sampling.
- Develop site specific guidelines, risk assessments and risk and / or remedial action plans.
- Work with senior staff to develop risk-based strategies to manageplex contaminated sites.
- Planning and executingplex remediation projects including in-situ and ex-situ remediation.
What you'll need to succeed
The successful candidate must have a university degree and be a critical thinker with highly developed problem-solving skills.
Our Client is seeking specific qualifications as follows :
- Graduate or undergraduate degree in environmental engineering, environmental and conservation sciences, land reclamation and soil science, hydrogeology, geology, geological engineering or related discipline.
- Minimum of 1-5 years of relevant consulting and / or industry experience.
- Excellentmunicator, both verbally and written and a team player.
- Strong work ethic with well-developed organizational and time management skills.
- Experience with drilling techniques, installation of monitoring wells and soil and groundwater sampling procedures.
- Experience with environmental site assessments and remediation.
- Experience using water level meters, data loggers, EC meters, etc. to gather hydrogeological and environmental data.
- Experience designing and implementing slug testing programs.
- Practical experience or course work in data management utilizing tools such as Excel, MS Access, and QGIS.
- Required to have or be able to obtain standard oilfield tickets (e.g., H2S Alive, First Aid, and Ground Disturbance, Transportation of Dangerous Goods, Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System, etc.
Additional safety certification may be required, depending on the nature of the project but can bepleted in advance of work.
- Possesses professional designation or eligible for registration with APEGA, AIA, or ASPB.
- Candidates must befortable working in field settings, including remote locations and winter weather.
- Applicants must have legal authorization to work in Canada with no restrictions.
