Position Summary

CS 421/820-001 – Advanced Artificial Intelligence
Advanced Artificial Intelligence approaches to approximate reasoning and machine learning. Decision trees and other selected data-based knowledge models. Topics may include logic programming and PROLOG, LISP, Artificial Intelligence in games, data mining, natural language processing, pattern recognition, and planning.

The semester is from January 6, 2027 to April 28, 2027 with the final exam period running from April 15, 2027 to April 28, 2027.

Expectations for Sessional Lecturers include, but aren’t limited to, the following:

• Preparing the course outline, designing relevant assignments, evaluating and grading student work, and submitting student grades by the required deadline.
• Teaching course content that follows the course description, established learning objectives, and university academic guidelines.
• Delivering lectures throughout the term at the time, days, and location set by the University.
• Encouraging and maintaining a safe and collaborative classroom environment.
• Providing regular support to students on course work during office hours, in class, and through email.
• Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements Master of Science (MSc)

• Demonstrated related experience appropriate to the course content description as listed above;
• Superior communications skills (both written and verbal);
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail;
• Recent teaching experience in a post-secondary environment is considered an asset.
