About the job
You will provide strategic HR advice, consultation and direct support to school leaders and management teams across a broad range of HR disciplines, working with clients, HR partners, labour relations specialists and other stakeholders. Key responsibilities include:
- Providing strategic advice on employee and labour relations matters, performance management, attendance support, workplace accommodations and organizational change.
- Supporting workforce planning, staffing, recruitment, organizational design and compensation-related activities.
- Building strong partnerships with leaders to understand operational priorities and deliver proactive HR solutions.
- Managing complex workplace issues, grievances, investigations and conflict resolution processes.
- Developing briefing materials, presentations, recommendations and communications for leaders and stakeholders.
- Leading or participating in HR projects, initiatives and continuous improvement activities.
What you bring to the team
- Demonstrated experience providing strategic HR advice and consultation to managers and leadership teams on complex workplace issues, identifying client needs, assessing risks and recommending practical solutions.
- Experience advising management on employee and labour relations matters in a unionized environment, interpreting collective agreements, workplace legislation and policies, and managing grievances, investigations, discipline, performance and attendance management.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build productive relationships with managers, employees, union representatives and HR partners, and to facilitate discussions and deliver presentations.
- Knowledge of HR legislation, policies and directives across the employment lifecycle, including accommodation, disability management, attendance support and return-to-work principles, and of diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility principles.
- Ability to analyze complex information, identify risks, research issues and develop evidence-based recommendations.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, competing deadlines and a diverse client portfolio, with experience leading or contributing to HR projects and process improvements.
