Are we right for you...

We’re passionate about people and creating sustainable, safe and affordable public transit solutions to residents across BC. We are an organization that has a people-first approach and considers people first in every business decision that we make. We are part of the solution and what we do matters; from fighting climate change with battery electric buses, to affordability through cost effective transportation, to connecting remote communities, we bring the heart, soul and innovation to public transportation.

It’s an exciting time to be in the public transportation sector and we’re looking for a creative and passionate leader to join our team. Not only would you be joining an engaged organization, but you’d also get to enjoy flexible work arrangements, extended benefits and a pension plan as just a few of the benefits BC Transit employees are eligible for. Keep reading to find out if this role is meant for you!

This role may be a great fit if you enjoy being the bridge between technical expertise and operational success.

As the Supervisor, Facilities Technical Services, you'll work closely with transit operating companies, project teams, contractors, maintenance staff, and corporate stakeholders to ensure facilities and fixed assets are safe, reliable, and ready to support service delivery. You'll help guide projects from design through to operational handover, support maintenance and asset management programs, and partner with operators to solve real-world facility challenges.

You will thrive in this position if you…

  • Enjoy building strong relationships and collaborating with diverse stakeholders.
  • Like solving complex technical and operational problems.
  • Can balance long-term asset management objectives with day-to-day operational needs.
  • Are comfortable working with operating companies to improve facility performance, reliability, and safety.
  • Take pride in turning technical information into practical solutions that support frontline operations.
  • Enjoy working across the full asset lifecycle, from planning and commissioning through maintenance, renewal, and replacement.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to combine leadership, technical expertise, and stakeholder engagement while helping deliver safe, effective, and sustainable transit facilities across British Columbia.

What you'll be doing...

Reporting to the Manager, Facilities Management, the Supervisor, Facilities Technical Services leads the Facilities Technical Services team and is responsible for delivering and continuously improving provincial maintenance, inspection, and technical support programs for BC Transit’s facilities and fixed assets. The role provides technical leadership and operational oversight to support asset reliability, regulatory compliance, lifecycle performance, and operational continuity across BC Transit’s complex and distributed operating environment.

This role combines technical leadership, stakeholder engagement, and operational problem-solving. You will lead the development and continuous improvement of maintenance standards, inspection programs, technical procedures, operational documentation, and checklists that drive safe, reliable, and consistent facility performance across the province.

Working closely with Transit Operations, Capital Projects, operating companies, contractors, and internal stakeholders, you will help ensure facilities and fixed assets are maintainable, operationally effective, and successfully integrated into service. From commissioning and operational readiness through maintenance, renewal, and replacement planning, you will influence decisions across the full asset lifecycle and help shape the future performance of BC Transit’s facilities.

For additional information about the full accountabilities of this position please review the Supervisor, Facilities Technical Services Job Description.

What you'll bring to the table...

We value lifelong learners and have found that a mix of any of the following credentials have set people up for success in this role in the past:

  • Experience in facilities maintenance, asset management, building systems, and infrastructure operations within transit, commercial, institutional, or industrial environments.
  • Proven leadership experience in a unionized environment, with the ability to build high-performing teams and foster accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Experience developing and implementing maintenance programs, inspection regimes, technical standards, and procedures that improve safety, reliability, and consistency across multiple locations.
  • Strong understanding of asset lifecycle management, including maintenance planning, condition assessment, commissioning, operational readiness, renewal, and replacement strategies.
  • Working knowledge of computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) or enterprise asset management systems (EAM), such as JD Edwards or equivalent.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build relationships, influence decisions, and work collaboratively with operations teams, contractors, consultants, and project stakeholders to deliver practical technical solutions.
  • Experience with maintenance budgets, service contracts, contractor performance management, or procurement processes.
  • Experience supporting capital projects, facility commissioning, operational readiness, or asset handovers.
  • Relevant technical, engineering, engineering technology, trade, or asset management education and credentials

What we'll bring to the table...

We value and prioritize personal wellness and offer comprehensive benefits to support all the important phases and milestones of your journey:

  • Comprehensive medical and dental benefits to support you and your family, regardless of what life throws at you
  • Membership in BC’s Public Service Pension Plan (PSPP). Nationally recognized for its strong investment and governance practices, PSPP is a “defined benefit” plan
  • Access to fitness and lifestyle centers to help you take care of your physical fitness and health
  • Various programs that support employees such as an Employee Assistance Program and health and wellness initiatives and events aimed at fostering your mental health
  • A complimentary employee bus pass (plus taxable dependent passes)
  • A corporate learning and development program to help you in continuous career growth
  • An employee recognition program where we all recognize each other's successes (not just your Leaders!)
  • A social club that gives you access to events throughout Victoria

What next steps could look like...

  • Interviews will be conducted in October 2026
  • An assessment may be sent to shortlisted applicants in conjunction with their interview invitations
  • An eligibility list for future full time regular and temporary full time vacancies may be established
  • The position requires the completion of a Criminal Record Check or Vulnerable Sector Search.
  • If you have a disability that requires an accommodation during any stage of our recruitment process, please let us know how we can assist you by contacting careers@bctransit.com
  • BC Transit is committed to providing access, equal opportunity and reasonable accommodation for individuals with disabilities. If the organization identifies this position as a reasonable accommodation for an existing employee, all candidates will be notified as soon as reasonably possible

At BC Transit, we are dedicated to building a diverse, inclusive, and authentic workplace; if you’re excited about this role and you have a combination of education and experience that you feel would fulfill its requirements, we encourage you to apply. In keeping with this belief, we do not discriminate on any basis. Should you require any accommodation or have questions, please let us know.
