Job description

Are you an experienced Hand Soldering Technician looking for a rewarding temporary full-time role with a leading employer in Markham, Ontario? Randstad Canada is currently seeking a talented and meticulous Hand Soldering Technician to join our premier client's growing operations within the manufacturing & logistics sector. As a global leader in talent solutions, Randstad partners with top-tier organizations to match skilled operational professionals with roles where they can excel. In this dynamic position, you will play a vital role on the electronics assembly team, performing high-precision hand soldering, SMT rework, and component assembly for printed circuit board assemblies (PCBA).

This Hand Soldering Technician position offers a stable full-time afternoon schedule from Monday to Friday, running from 4:30 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. Positioned in the heart of Markham, ON, this opportunity is ideal for detail-oriented individuals seeking regular evening shifts within the manufacturing & logistics space. The role offers a competitive compensation package ranging from $18.00 to $20.00 per hour, based on your prior hands-on soldering experience and academic qualifications in electronic engineering or related disciplines.

As a key member of the production floor, the Hand Soldering Technician will execute complex assembly tasks, manual component placement, and precise microscopic inspection. Working within a modern manufacturing & logistics facility, you will utilize advanced de-soldering stations, hot air guns, and specialized tools to ensure that every circuit board meets rigorous technical standards. If you possess a strong background in PCBA manufacturing, a proactive "can-do" attitude, and a commitment to quality, this Hand Soldering Technician opportunity is tailored for you.

Advantages
• Competitive hourly rate of $18.00 to $20.00 per hour, commensurate with hands-on soldering experience and background.
• Consistent full-time afternoon shift (4:30 p.m. to 1:00 a.m., Monday to Friday), providing steady hours and free weekends.
• Immediate temporary full-time contract placement with a premier, established employer in Markham, ON.
• Opportunity to enhance your technical credentials and gain valuable experience in the manufacturing & logistics industry.
• Access to a safe, clean, and modern manufacturing facility equipped with up-to-date rework and assembly equipment.
• Convenient weekly pay schedule via direct deposit through Randstad’s reliable payroll system.
• Guidance and career management support from Randstad recruiters who are specialized experts in manufacturing & logistics.

Responsibilities
• Perform high-precision manual hand soldering and delicate rework of surface-mount technology (SMT) and through-hole components on complex printed circuit board assemblies (PCBA).
• Operate de-soldering stations, hot air rework guns, micro-soldering irons, and hand tools to remove, replace, or repair intricate electronic components safely.
• Execute manual component preparation, lead forming, precision component placement, and installation on printed circuit boards according to production schedules.
• Conduct thorough in-process optical inspections and touch-ups on SMT and through-hole assemblies utilizing stereo microscopes and optical magnifiers.
• Read and interpret electronic assembly blueprints, schematics, bills of materials (BOM), and standard operating procedures (SOP) to ensure exact specifications are met.
• Package finished electronic products, sub-assemblies, and materials securely for shipment or transfer, ensuring proper labeling and ESD protection.
• Perform real-time quality checks to identify soldering defects, such as solder bridges, cold joints, or component misalignment, and perform immediate correction.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and ESD-compliant workstation while strictly adhering to occupational health and safety standards in the manufacturing & logistics environment.
• Communicate effectively with production leads, quality assurance inspectors, and manufacturing engineers to resolve assembly challenges promptly.
• Assist with general production tasks, hardware installation, and operational assembly support as assigned by supervisors in the manufacturing & logistics division.

Qualifications
• Minimum of 1 year of hands-on experience in electronic assembly or dedicated hand soldering in a manufacturing environment.
• Post-secondary diploma or academic background in Electronic Engineering or a related technical discipline (Canadian educational credentials are a strong asset).
• Demonstrated expertise in SMT rework using de-soldering tools, hot air guns, and microscopic inspection equipment.
• Full availability to work the full-time afternoon shift (4:30 p.m. to 1:00 a.m., Monday to Friday) in Markham, ON.
• Strong team player with a positive "can-do" attitude and the ability to work productively with minimal supervision.
• Capability to perform fine detail work, sit for extended periods, and handle delicate electronic components safely.
• Must be legally eligible to work full-time hours in Ontario, Canada.
