We are looking for a Biomass Millwright to join our Residential team in Yellowknife, NT. Reporting to the Regional Manager, this position supports the operation, maintenance, and repair of biomass pellet boiler systems and associated fuel-handling and mechanical infrastructure. Working under the supervision of a senior biomass technician, this role applies Red Seal Millwright (Industrial Mechanic) principles to renewable energy systems, material handling equipment, and mechanical plant operations.
This position involves hands-on mechanical work, troubleshooting rotating equipment, alignment, and repair of conveying systems, with opportunities to develop specialized expertise in biomass energy systems.
Responsibilities:
- Assist senior biomass technician with installation, commissioning, and servicing of biomass pellet boiler systems.
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance following millwright best practices.
- Install, inspect, align, and maintain augers, conveyors, motors, gearboxes, belts, chains, and bearings.
- Conduct mechanical assembly/disassembly and precision alignment of rotating equipment.
- Troubleshoot vibration, wear, and mechanical failures.
- Perform basic welding, cutting, grinding, and fabrication tasks as required.
- Support electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic troubleshooting with qualified personnel.
- Maintain accurate service and maintenance records.
- Follow all safety regulations including lockout/tagout and confined space procedures.
- Perform other duties consistent with the millwright scope of work.
Qualifications:
- Red Seal Millwright (Industrial Mechanic) certification or active apprenticeship is a strong asset.
- Relevant experience in industrial mechanics, millwright work, or mechanical maintenance.
- Experience with material handling systems and rotating equipment preferred.
- Strong interest in renewable energy and biomass heating systems.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to job sites. A class 3 driver's license is considered a strong asset.
