Job description

Plant Products is seeking an experienced finance professional to add senior leadership capacity as the business grows in size, complexity, reporting requirements, systems needs, and operational demands. Working closely with the CFO and Corporate Controller, this role will gain broad exposure across the finance function and progressively assume ownership of selected reporting, analysis, compliance coordination, process improvement, and leadership responsibilities. There is an opportunity for this role to evolve in scope

and scale in alignment with the development of the business and its needs,

as well as the strengths and interests of the successful candidate.

ROLE FOCUS

  • Own monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting, including consolidations, group reporting, close activities, balance sheet reviews, reconciliations, intercompany accounting, and financial analysis.
  • Work with the Corporate Controller to learn key reporting processes, financial controls, policies, procedures, and management reporting requirements; progressively assume ownership of selected areas.
  • Support audit, tax, regulatory, and compliance activities by coordinating with external advisors, auditors, legal counsel, banking partners, and finance leadership.

LEADERSHIP & IMPROVEMENT

  • Partner with the CFO and Corporate Controller on departmental priorities, organizational structure, succession depth, onboarding, mentoring, and development of finance talent.
  • Identify and lead improvements to reporting, ERP/workflow processes, internal controls, documentation, working capital routines, and cross-functional finance processes.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, management reporting, business analysis, system initiatives, integrations, and other growth-related projects.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • CPA designation with 7+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including leadership experience in public accounting and / or industry.
  • Strong technical foundation in financial reporting, consolidations, month-end close, internal controls, budgeting/ forecasting, financial analysis, and multi-priority execution.
  • Advanced Excel and financial systems aptitude, with strong communication, relationship-building, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

  • Manager or Senior Manager public accounting experience and / or experience supporting a multi-entity organization.
  • Exposure to Canadian and U.S. tax / compliance environments and experience coordinating with external auditors, tax advisors, legal counsel, banks, and other professional advisors.
  • Experience with ERP systems, inventory, costing, operational finance, process improvement, project leadership, staff development, and cross-functional business relationships.

The successful candidate will develop a strong understanding of the business and finance function, build trusted relationships, become proficient in group reporting and consolidation processes, assume ownership of selected reporting / analysis / compliance / leadership responsibilities, improve scalability and resilience of key finance activities, and become a trusted contributor to the continued development of the finance function.

WHAT WE OFFER
