Reporting to the Director, Dental Services, the Manager Clinical Dental Services (Manager) is responsible for the coordination and implementation of community dental services including specialty clinics which includesGeneral Anesthesia (GA), Orthodontics, Oral Surgery, budget monitoring, referral site agreements, and interdepartmental and external liaison and coordination. This position is based in Iqaluit and is responsible for all community dental service requirements within each Nunavut region (Kivalliq, Kitikmeot and Qikiqtaaluk) and is the direct supervisor of the Regional Dental Coordinators and their subordinates within each region.This position ensures Nunavummiut has access to all the necessary clinical dental services and access to treatment both within the territory and out-of-territory.

The main responsibilities of the Manager are, but are not limited to:

Working with internal and external stakeholders in the implementation of clinical dental services;

Working with Deputy Territorial Dental Officer to develop up-to-date prioritization and client schedule lists for pending clients awaiting treatment in a dental clinic;

Negotiating, developing, and monitoring all formal agreements associated with clinical dental services and providing regular updates of performance;

Developing and implementing guidelines and protocols for clients attending clinical dental services;

Participating in the Dental Division's strategic planning process and ensures there are opportunities for areas of the clinical dental services to enhance services;

Participating in the development of short- and long-term goals and objectives for the dental program, specifically clinical dental services;

Assisting with negotiation of additional access to GA and specialty clinics as required;

Ensuring Inuit Societal Values are built into all areas of Dental Service provision.

The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this job are usually obtained through a recognized:

Undergraduate degree in a health-related field, business administration or related field;

Two (2) years’ experience in a dental or related field including;

One (1) year of supervisory experience;

Experience working in rural and/or remote northern communities is considered as an asset.

This is a Highly Sensitive Position and a satisfactory Criminal Record Check, along with a clear Vulnerable Sector Check is required.

The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktut, English and French. Applicants may submit their resume in any of the official languages of Nunavut. Fluency in more than one of Nunavut’s official languages would be considered an asset.Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture,land,Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment are also considered assets.
