The Indigenous Relations Coordinator supports the implementation of Clark Builders' Indigenous Relations strategy by coordinating community engagement activities, workforce initiatives, Indigenous procurement programs, reporting, and internal education efforts.

Working closely with the Indigenous Relations Specialist, this role helps build and maintain respectful relationships with Indigenous communities, Nations, organizations, project teams, and internal stakeholders while supporting the consistent delivery of Indigenous Relations programs.

The Coordinator is expected to manage assigned initiatives independently, exercise sound judgment in day-to-day decision-making, and proactively coordinate activities while escalating complex, strategic, or sensitive matters as appropriate.

This position reflects Clark Builders' long-term commitment to reconciliation and meaningful community engagement, ensuring Indigenous Relations is recognized as a strategic priority across our organization.

Reports to: Specialist, Indigenous Relations

Responsibilities

The Indigenous Relations Coordinator is responsible for supporting the implementation of Indigenous Relations programs and initiatives across our organization. Responsibilities include:

  • Support the Indigenous Relations team in the coordination and implementation of Indigenous Relations programs, initiatives, and strategic priorities.
  • Provide information and guidance to internal and external stakeholders regarding Indigenous Relations programs, processes, policies, and resources.
  • Build and maintain respectful relationships with Indigenous communities, Nations, Métis organizations, Indigenous businesses, and community partners.
  • Plan, prioritize, and coordinate assigned Indigenous Relations activities independently, ensuring commitments, timelines, and follow-up actions are completed while keeping the Indigenous Relations Specialist informed of significant issues, risks, or opportunities.
  • Coordinate meetings, career fairs, trade shows, community events, cultural activities, and engagement opportunities with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Coordinate the day-to-day administration and delivery of the internal Reconciliation in Action (RIA) Committee & Indigenous Employee Resource Group (IERG), including meeting logistics, communications, action tracking, and initiatives.
  • Coordinate Indigenous Relations communications, awareness activities, and key dates of significance in collaboration with the Brand & Engagement team.
  • Own the maintenance and continuous improvement of Indigenous Relations resource libraries, templates, databases, and documentation.
  • Coordinate the collection, validation, and reporting of Indigenous Relations data, including employment, procurement, community engagement, and local content metrics.
  • Maintain dashboards, trackers, and reports that support internal reporting, Canadian Council for Indigenous Business (CCIB) PAIR certification, ESG reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Assist in identifying Indigenous businesses, employment organizations, educational institutions, and community partners to support workforce and procurement initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain a pipeline of Indigenous engagement opportunities, partnerships, and community relationships, identifying opportunities for follow-up and collaboration.
  • Prepare reports, presentations, and supporting materials for meetings, proposals, executive updates, and Indigenous Relations initiatives.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to identify opportunities to enhance Indigenous Relations processes, systems, reporting, and programs.
  • Provide administrative and project coordination support to the Indigenous Relations team as required.

  • Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment, work independently, and make informed decisions while recognizing when collaboration or escalation is appropriate.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and cultural humility.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or degree in Indigenous Studies, Community Development, Public Administration, Social Services, Business, or a related field. An equivalent combination of education lived experience, and professional experience will be considered.
  • Experience working with or alongside Indigenous communities, Nations, organizations, or Indigenous Relations programs, considered an asset.
  • Previous training and experience in Project Management would be considered an asset.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and be flexible to travel.
