Working closely with Engineering, Cryogenic Packaging, Supply Chain, Finance, and external manufacturing partners, you will drive continuous improvement across manufacturing processes while balancing rapid R&D with reliable production. You will also lead the development of the team, ensuring the long‑term sustainability and evolution of this critical manufacturing capability.

What you'll do

Manufacturing Operations

  • Lead the day‑to‑day operations of D-Wave's PCB manufacturing function, ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable prototype and production delivery.
  • Coordinate manufacturing activities, balancing engineering priorities, production schedules, and resource requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvement by optimizing manufacturing processes, troubleshooting production issues, and implementing practical quality systems and process controls.
  • Preserve and advance D-Wave's specialized PCB manufacturing capabilities by documenting processes, maintaining manufacturing records, and supporting knowledge transfer.
  • Manage work orders, inventory, board revisions, and manufacturing documentation while partnering with Purchasing, Finance, and external suppliers to ensure material availability, quality, and production readiness.

Leadership

  • Collaborate closely with scientists and engineers to develop, prototype, and manufacture specialized PCBs that enable the next generation of quantum computing hardware.
  • Help solve unique manufacturing challenges involving novel materials, specialized fabrication processes, and one‑of‑a‑kind hardware designs.
  • Support rapid design iterations by transforming new PCB concepts into manufacturable hardware, enabling fast experimentation and accelerated technology development.
  • Lead, coach, mentor, and develop a high‑performing PCB manufacturing team through hiring, performance management, career development, and workforce planning.
  • Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and accountable team culture while setting priorities, managing workloads, and aligning team objectives with business goals.

Facilities, Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure manufacturing facilities, equipment, and infrastructure are maintained to support operational excellence.
  • Promote a culture of health, safety, and environmental compliance, including coordinating required training and ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements.

About You

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Materials, or Manufacturing Engineering, Chemistry, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 10+ years of experience in manufacturing, engineering, operations, or process development within advanced, low‑volume, high‑complexity manufacturing.
  • Experience solving complex manufacturing challenges and developing new technologies and processes.
  • Previous experience leading and developing technical teams.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing operations, process improvement, production planning, and quality systems.
  • Ability to build credibility with experienced technical teams while leading operational improvements and organizational change.
  • Experience managing manufacturing schedules, work orders, inventory, and production priorities.
  • Experience managing external suppliers and manufacturing partners.
  • Familiarity with PCB manufacturing, semiconductor packaging, precision manufacturing, microelectronics, or similar advanced manufacturing environments.
  • Experience with FileMaker, ERP, MES, or similar manufacturing systems.
  • Knowledge of budgeting, inventory management, and cost control.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
