Job description

Take Your Career to New Heights with Flair Airlines

We’re here to make air travel affordable for everyone, and we’re looking for talented individuals who want to help us continue changing the industry for the better. As Canada’s most reliable airline, we're all about offering real value. As we continue to expand our network, increase flight frequencies, and introduce more services, we’re looking for passionate team members to help us in our mission to make air travel accessible for everyone. We know who we are, and we’re confident in our approach.

Your Team

Join Flair’s Flight Operations team, where safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the airline’s Boeing 737 fleet is the foundation of daily performance. Reporting to the Chief Pilot, the First Officer operates flights across Canada, the United States, Mexico, and the Caribbean. This role supports compliant, dependable flight operations while contributing to a consistent, professional experience for guests as the network continues to grow.

The First Officer is responsible for supporting the planning and execution of each flight in accordance with regulatory requirements, company policies, and standard operating procedures. Core responsibilities include assisting with pre-flight preparation, managing in-flight duties, and completing post-flight tasks, while maintaining clear and effective communication with operational teams. The role requires strong situational awareness, sound judgment, and a consistent commitment to safety and professionalism on every flight.

This position is available at our pilot bases in Toronto, Vancouver, Edmonton, and Montreal.

A Day In The Life

  • Conducting detailed pre-flight inspections of aircraft systems, records, and operational requirements to ensure readiness for departure.
  • Assisting the PIC with aircraft operation in all phases of flight while adhering to company procedures, Transport Canada regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Monitoring weather, aircraft performance, and operational conditions, and providing timely updates to the PIC to support informed decision-making.
  • Preparing and reviewing flight plans, NOTAMs, and operational data to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Identifying potential operational disruptions and supporting actions that protect safety, minimize delays, and maintain the commercial schedule.
  • Assisting the PIC in delivering clear and timely communication to the crew and passengers regarding turbulence, weather, or other operational considerations.
  • Coordinating with Maintenance, SOCC, and Dispatch to relay technical or operational information as required.
  • Maintaining current knowledge of aircraft systems, SOPs, and emerging operational practices.
  • Performing additional operational duties as assigned to support safe and efficient flight execution.

What You Bring To The Role

  • Licenses and Certifications:
    • Valid Transport Canada Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL), or a Commercial Pilot License with successful completion of the IATRA or SAMRA/SARON exams
  • Experience:
    • A minimum of 1,000 hours total fixed-wing flight time, demonstrating sound judgment, strong situational awareness, and safe operational practices.
    • Experience operating in a multi-crew, IFR environment with exposure to commercial airline procedures, workload management, and flight deck coordination.
    • Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply operational data, including weather, NOTAMs, performance calculations, and flight plans, to support safe and efficient flight operations.
    • Familiarity with Transport Canada regulations applicable to commercial operations, including CARs 602/604/703/704/705.
    • Experience operating Boeing 737 aircraft, including the 737 MAX and NG, is considered a significant asset.
    • Proven track record of professionalism, reliability, and adherence to standard operating procedures in previous aviation roles.
  • Skills and Abilities:
    • Strong situational awareness with the ability to anticipate operational needs and respond effectively to changing conditions.
    • Excellent decision-making skills, with the ability to assess information accurately and support safe, timely operational outcomes.
    • Proven ability to work effectively in a multi-crew environment, demonstrating strong CRM, clear communication, and adherence to SOPs.
    • High level of professionalism, composure, and judgment during normal, abnormal, and emergency situations.
    • Effective workload management and prioritization skills, maintaining focus and organization in time-sensitive or high-pressure environments.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills, enabling clear and concise interactions with the PIC, cabin crew, ATC, Dispatch, SOCC, and Maintenance.
    • Strong problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to analyze operational data and support informed, safety-focused decisions.
    • Commitment to continuous learning, including staying current with aircraft systems, company procedures, and regulatory requirements.
    • Demonstrated reliability, accountability, and consistent adherence to professional and safety standards.
  • Requirements:
    • Ability to successfully clear background and criminal record checks.
    • Ability to obtain and maintain a Restricted Area Identification Card (RAIC).
    • Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment alcohol and drug screening test.
    • Must hold a valid passport and be able to travel unrestricted to and from the United States and other international destinations.
    • Must hold a valid Transport Canada Category 1 Medical Certificate.
    • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada without restriction.
