Overview

Scale Collaborative is a dynamic, growing organization that supports Canada's social impact ecosystem through capacity-building training and coaching, consulting, and access to financing to support organizational growth. We work across three companies and an associated charity, with over $3 million in revenue and a team of more than 20 employees.

We are seeking a Manager, Partnerships & Events to manage and grow our national partnership portfolio and lead the delivery of high-profile annual events that advance the Thriving Non-Profits journey. This is a senior role with real accountability and broad scope. The right person will be comfortable building relationships with foundations, credit unions, and sector organizations across Canada, managing a meaningful portfolio from prospect to renewal, and leading events that bring the social finance and non-profit community together.

What You Will Do

  • Manage the partnership watershed from end to end: researching and identifying prospective partners, coordinating outreach, preparing proposals and agreements, and stewarding an active portfolio of community and private foundations, credit unions, financial institutions, governments, and sector associations.
  • Participate alongside the Director in partner meetings, outreach, and negotiations, and serve as the primary day-to-day contact for an assigned portfolio of partners.
  • Lead the planning and delivery of two to three high-profile annual events, including Connect Money Impact and the Blended Finance Summit, managing all logistics, subcontractors, and suppliers from concept through debrief.
  • Coordinate partner impact reports, drawing on cohort delivery data, coaching outcomes, and consulting impact from across the organization.
  • Maintain the active agreement register, renewal schedule, and watershed records, and keep the Administration team current on agreements and payment schedules to support accurate financial tracking.
  • Work with the Brand Coordinator and Marketing Manager on partner-facing materials and event communications.

Who You Are

You are a relationship-focused professional with experience in partnership development, fundraising, or business development, ideally in or adjacent to the non-profit, social finance, or community investment sector. You are comfortable working with senior external stakeholders and know how to manage a complex portfolio without losing track of the details. You bring:

  • Several years of experience managing partnerships, sponsorships, or funding relationships, preferably at a national or multi-regional scale.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare compelling proposals and represent the organization credibly in external settings.
  • Experience planning and delivering professional events, including managing vendors and subcontractors.
  • Comfort working in a small, fast-moving team where priorities shift and initiative is expected.
  • The discipline to keep records current and the organizational skills to manage a complex portfolio.
  • Knowledge of the non-profit, charitable, or social finance sector is a strong asset.

Why Join Us?

  • Be part of a mission-driven team working to strengthen the financial resilience of non-profits and charities across Canada.
  • Work from theDock Centre for Social Impact, our co-working space in Victoria, with access to a dynamic community of social impact organizations, discounts, coffee, and Salad Bar Wednesdays.
  • Access to extended health and dental benefits.
  • Three weeks of holidays plus an additional paid holiday during the year-end shutdown.
  • A flexible work environment and professional development opportunities.

Commitment to Diversity

At Scale Collaborative, we believe diversity strengthens our work and amplifies our impact. We are committed to fostering a workplace where everyone feels respected, valued, and supported in contributing their unique perspectives and talents. We welcome candidates from all backgrounds and experiences to join us in advancing meaningful social impact.

OUTCOMES

Thriving Non-Profits is a national three-stage journey that helps non-profits and charities strengthen their financial resilience and organizational capacity through learning, coaching, consulting, and access to values-aligned capital. The Manager, Partnerships & Events is a member of the Partnerships & Events team and manages the national partnership portfolio that funds and sustains this journey across Scale Collaborative and its affiliated entities. The role covers the full partnership cycle: prospecting and watershed management, outreach coordination, relationship development, agreement preparation, delivery team handoffs, stewardship, impact reporting, and renewal support.

Partnerships in this context refers to the ecosystem organizations that fund and support the Thriving Non-Profits journey, including community and private foundations, credit unions, financial institutions, governments, and sector associations. Some partnerships fund participant seats directly; others support the journey through research funding or access to physical space and venues. This function is distinct from client relationships in consulting, which are managed by the Coaching & Consulting team.

The Manager also leads the planning and delivery of two to three high-profile annual events, including Connect Money Impact and the Blended Finance Summit, within the strategic direction set by the Director. These events sustain active community engagement, deepen partner relationships, and support the business development goals of the Thriving Non-Profits program. For most partners, event sponsorship and recognition are integrated into the broader partnership relationship; for others, they are managed as a separate revenue stream.

The Manager works closely with the Director on a day-to-day basis, contributing operational intelligence, watershed insight, and relationship observations that inform strategic decisions. Accountability for strategic direction and agreement execution rests with the Director.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Partnership Development and Watershed Management

  • Maintain and actively manage the partnership watershed, tracking prospecting status, outreach history, meeting notes, next steps, and timelines.
  • Research prospective partners, including mandate, funding priorities, decision-making contacts, and relationship history, and prepare briefing materials in advance of outreach and meetings.
  • Identify prospective partners, support the development of new partnerships, and participate in negotiations in coordination with the Director.
  • Coordinate outreach activities in line with the annual partnerships plan, including drafting initial correspondence, preparing partnership proposals and presentations, and managing follow-up through each stage.
  • Participate in partner meetings and outreach activities alongside the Director, contributing to relationship development and providing continuity across the partnership cycle.
  • Prepare draft partnership agreements and letters of intent from established templates for review and execution by the Director, ensuring accuracy and alignment with agreed terms.
  • Manage the standardized handoff from signed agreements to delivery teams, ensuring staff have the context and requirements needed for effective execution.
  • Bring forward observations on the prospective partner landscape, relationship dynamics, and watershed risks on a regular basis.

Partnership Stewardship and Reporting

  • Serve as the primary day-to-day contact for an assigned portfolio of active partners, maintaining regular communication on program delivery, cohort progress, and impact.
  • Coordinate partner impact reports, working with the Learning Programs and Coaching & Consulting teams to collect accurate delivery data, readiness outcomes, and impact stories, and preparing report drafts for review.
  • Maintain a regular flow of partner-relevant field intelligence from Learning Programs, Coaching & Consulting, and Investment to support partner communications and renewal conversations.
  • Lead the renewal process for assigned partnerships, including preparing renewal proposals, coordinating internal review, scheduling partner conversations, and tracking renewal timelines against the portfolio calendar.
  • Monitor partner satisfaction and flag emerging relationship issues or renewal risks to the Director.

Events Planning and Delivery

  • Lead the planning and delivery of two to three high-profile annual events, including Connect Money Impact and the Blended Finance Summit, within the agreed strategic and programming framework.
  • Develop detailed event plans, timelines, and budgets for each event, presenting these for approval and managing delivery against plan.
  • Manage all logistics for assigned events, including venue selection and contracting, catering, audiovisual and technology requirements, speaker and facilitator coordination, and on-site delivery.
  • Engage and manage subcontractors and event suppliers as required, including coordinating quotes, preparing agreements from established templates, and overseeing delivery against contract.
  • Coordinate event communications, invitations, promotional materials, and participant engagement in collaboration with the Brand Coordinator and Marketing Manager.
  • Ensure that partner recognition and sponsorship obligations embedded in partnership agreements are fulfilled across all events.
  • Conduct post-event debriefs and produce summary reports.
  • Bring forward recommendations on future event formats, programming themes, or partnership integration opportunities.

Internal and Administrative Coordination

  • Participate in monthly integration meetings with the Learning Programs, Coaching & Consulting, and Investment teams, gathering field intelligence and staying current on cohort delivery and partner commitments.
  • Coordinate with the Learning Programs and Coaching & Consulting teams on partner-funded cohort cycles, impact data collection, and the post-cohort information required for partner reports and renewal conversations.
  • Work with the Brand Coordinator and Marketing Manager on all partner-facing materials, event collateral, invitations, and communications.
  • Notify the Administration team promptly when new partnership agreements are signed, amended, or renewed, providing complete documentation, payment schedules, and delivery milestones to support accurate revenue recognition and deferred revenue tracking. Liaise with the Administration team on partner invoicing, payment tracking, event supplier and subcontractor onboarding, vendor payment processing, and contract administration.
  • Maintain current portfolio documentation, including the active agreement register, renewal schedule, and watershed records.

DECISION BOUNDARIES

This role may act independently on:

  • All aspects of partnership and events work within the approved annual plan and budget.
  • Maintaining and updating partnership records, tracking systems, and portfolio documentation.
  • Outreach to and engagement of prospective partners in line with the annual partnerships plan.

  • Event logistics, vendor coordination, subcontractor management, and on-site delivery within approved budgets.

  • Bringing forward observations, recommendations, and watershed intelligence proactively.
  • This role does not independently manage:
