Job description

We’re supporting a growing Canadian engineering and telecommunications organization as they look to add an experienced HR Generalist to their team.

This is a broad, hands-on role supporting employees and managers across employee relations, performance management, compensation, benefits, compliance and HR operations. You’ll work closely with senior HR leadership while independently managing sensitive matters, providing sound advice and helping strengthen HR programs, policies and processes.

This opportunity would suit a confident HR professional who combines strong judgement with practical execution and is comfortable making decisions in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

What You’ll Be Working On

  • Advising employees and managers on employee relations and workplace matters
  • Supporting performance reviews, performance management processes and manager coaching
  • Conducting fair, confidential, and well-documented workplace investigations
  • Administering employee benefits and supporting complex leave, disability and accommodation cases
  • Supporting compensation reviews, benchmarking exercises and annual compensation cycles
  • Interpreting HR policies and Canadian employment legislation, including the Canada Labour Code where applicable
  • Maintaining accurate employee data across HRIS platforms such as BambooHR, Dayforce or ADP
  • Updating policies, procedures, handbooks and HR documentation in line with employment legislation and regulatory changes
  • Supporting health and safety, wellness, learning and employee engagement initiatives
  • Analyzing HR metrics, including turnover, engagement and workforce demographics
  • Supporting payroll, recruitment and selection activities when required

What They’re Looking For

  • Three to six years of progressive HR experience across multiple functional areas
  • A bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field
  • A completed CPHR designation is strongly preferred
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian employment standards, human rights and occupational health and safety legislation
  • Experience supporting employee relations, performance management and workplace investigations
  • Practical experience with compensation cycles, salary reviews and market benchmarking
  • Strong benefits, leave and disability-management experience
  • Excellent judgement, discretion, coaching and conflict-resolution skills
  • Experience working with HRIS and applicant tracking systems such as BambooHR, Dayforce or ADP
  • Ability to interpret policies, analyze HR data and provide practical recommendations
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Confidence managing competing priorities and complex HR matters independently

Why This Role

  • Take ownership of a broad and varied HR portfolio
  • Partner closely with employees, managers and organizational leaders
  • Contribute to meaningful HR programs, policies and workplace initiatives
  • Build experience across employee relations, compliance, benefits and organizational development
  • Join a collaborative and growing Canadian organization
  • Flexible hybrid work environment

What Makes Someone Successful in This Role

  • You care about creating a fair, supportive and consistent employee experience.
  • You bring sound judgement, discretion and empathy to sensitive workplace matters.
  • You are comfortable making independent decisions and enjoy partnering with managers and helping them navigate people-related decisions with confidence.
  • You are able to balance day-to-day HR support with policy, project, and process improvement work.
  • You stay informed about changing employment legislation and look for practical ways to improve HR service delivery.

The estimated pay rate for this position is CAD $70,000 to CAD $80,000 per year as of the posting date. Actual compensation within this range will be determined based on factors such as job-related skills, relevant experience, education, and training. Please note that this range reflects the base pay rate only and does not include any applicable bonuses or benefits.
