Director, Healthcare & Technology Compliance (AI Governance)

On-site: Burnaby, BC

Salary: $90,000 to $120,000 CAD annually, depending on experience

At Aarista and Altea Healthcare, we're building the future of healthcare through technology, artificial intelligence, and innovation.

This is a unique opportunity to build and lead a modern enterprise compliance program at the intersection of technology, artificial intelligence, and healthcare.

We are seeking a strategic, hands‑on leader who will partner with executive leadership to establish practical compliance and governance programs that support innovation while managing enterprise risk. This role works closely with Product, Engineering, Security, Operations, Legal, HR, Finance, and Clinical leadership to ensure compliance is embedded into how we build, deploy, and support technology.

Healthcare compliance experience is a requirement for this role.

What You'll Do

  • Build and lead the organization's Technology Compliance and AI Governance program.
  • Develop governance frameworks for artificial intelligence, enterprise risk, privacy, product compliance, and healthcare regulatory compliance.
  • Partner with Product, Engineering, Security, Operations, and executive leadership to identify risks early and develop practical business solutions.
  • Evaluate new technologies, AI initiatives, vendors, and strategic partnerships from a compliance and governance perspective.
  • Develop policies, standards, and governance processes that enable responsible innovation.
  • Lead enterprise risk assessments, compliance investigations, policy development, and executive reporting.
  • Monitor emerging regulations related to artificial intelligence, privacy, cybersecurity, and technology governance.
  • Collaborate with business leaders to build scalable compliance programs that support continued organizational growth.

What Success Looks Like

The ideal candidate is confident enough to respectfully challenge executive leadership when necessary, practical enough to find compliant business solutions, and collaborative enough to build strong relationships across the organization. This individual will serve as a trusted business partner who helps drive innovation while protecting the company and its customers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required. Advanced degree preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in compliance, governance, enterprise risk, regulatory affairs, privacy, AI governance, security, or a related field.
  • Experience working within a technology company, SaaS organization, cybersecurity company, fintech organization, healthcare technology company, or another highly regulated industry.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise compliance, risk management, data privacy, AI governance, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Experience partnering with Product, Engineering, Security, and executive leadership teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to build programs, influence stakeholders, and lead organizational change.
  • Exceptional communication, executive presence, and sound business judgment.
  • Experience in healthcare technology or digital health.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA or healthcare privacy regulations.
  • Experience with AI governance, NIST, SOC 2, ISO 27001, HITRUST, or similar governance frameworks.
  • Professional certifications such as CIPP, CISSP, CISA, CRISC, CHC, CHPC, AIGP, or comparable credentials.
