We are seeking a Team Lead for the Crisis Services Team.

The primary responsibility of the Crisis Lead is to provide leadership support to the workers of the Crisis Services Team, and to support the Program Manager in providing clinical supervision and operational support during their shift.

Status: Full-time permanent, 37.5 hours per week, including some evening/weekend coverage as per operational needs. Note, this posting is for an active vacancy.

Base Salary: Crisis Support Worker salary plus $5000 annually

Location: 60 West Drive, Brampton. Due to the nature of the program, this role is on-site and community based.

What you will do

  • Provide operational support across all portfolios assigned to the reporting Manager
  • Assisting with the day to day clinical operations on the team during their shift
  • Provide direct clinical support, supervision, guidance and oversight for 988 crisis staff
  • Support Crisis mobile teams as needed by conducting community visits and providing client support in person
  • Periodically shadow various program roles to gain a comprehensive understanding of operational processes, identify service gaps, and provide effective support to staff
  • Support staff in prioritizing client issues and tasks, as needed
  • Conduct regular clinical supervisions with front line staff
  • Support the Manager in team meetings including planning, chairing and following up with actions as appropriate
  • Support the Manager in case conferences, including planning, chairing and following up with actions as necessary
  • Ensure adequate staffing coverage during shifts
  • Escalate staff and clinical issues to the Manager, as appropriate
  • Aid with leadership of program development
  • Participate with identifying and organizing training for the program
  • Ensure service data is being collected and recorded regularly; daily reports done in a timely manner
  • Co-ordinate closely with “Go-To” staff on each shift
  • Provide oversight on night shifts periodically and as requested
  • Provide back up to the manager, as needed

What you need to join our team

  • University Degree in Social work, BSc. Nursing, degree in occupational therapy
  • Must be a Regulated Health Professional and adhere to standards of practice as per designated college
  • Minimum 5 years of experience working in acute mental health sector, preferably in the community
  • Minimum one year of supervision or leadership experience in a clinical or community setting
  • Knowledge and principles of crisis theory and intervention
  • Experience with crisis intervention techniques and theory based practice in working with the seriously mentally ill
  • Demonstrated knowledge on risk assessments, suicide prevention.
  • Demonstrated ability to be flexible and cope with ambiguity in the system.
  • Knowledge of family and social systems.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with proven ability to approach, listen, build trust, and communicate across diverse cultures and intersectionality. Willingness to continually improve understanding around cultural competence
  • Openness to operate from an anti-racist, anti-oppressive, 2SLGBTQ+ affirming and intersectional framework
  • Willingness to learn and apply practical understanding of different elements of diversity, such as gender identity/expression, race/cultural background, religion, sexual orientation, disability, immigration and precarious status, family status, etc.
  • Fluency in a second language, including ASL (American Sign Language) is considered an asset
  • Work a minimum 2 (two) night shifts per month to support program operations
  • Valid Canadian driver’s license and access to an insured automobile in good repair
  • A satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Screening (Police Check) report
