Job description

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform routine inspections of guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces.
  • Complete preventive maintenance tasks according to the maintenance schedule.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and guest service calls.
  • Repair and maintain doors, locks, windows, furniture, drywall, flooring, and ceilings.
  • Paint and perform minor carpentry repairs as required.
  • Replace light bulbs, ballasts, switches, and electrical outlets.
  • Perform basic plumbing repairs, including faucets, toilets, sinks, and drains.
  • Assist in maintaining HVAC, boilers, pumps, and ventilation systems.
  • Monitor building equipment and report any deficiencies.
  • Follow all health and safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO).
  • Maintain a safe and organized workshop and storage areas.
  • Participate in fire, life safety, and emergency response procedures.
  • Report safety hazards immediately.
  • Assist with snow removal, landscaping, and exterior maintenance.
  • Maintain parking lots, walkways, and outdoor equipment.
  • Complete work orders accurately using the hotel's maintenance management system.
  • Record preventive maintenance activities and equipment inspections.
  • Communicate maintenance issues and project updates to supervisors.

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous hotel, commercial, or building maintenance experience preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, and painting.
  • Ability to operate hand and power tools safely.
  • Valid driver's license is an asset.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Reliable, organized, and detail-oriented.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Stand, walk, bend, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces.
  • Work indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Available to work weekends, evenings, holidays, and on-call shifts as required.
  • Fast-paced hotel environment.
  • Exposure to mechanical equipment, cleaning chemicals, and varying temperatures.
  • Participation in an on-call rotation for emergency maintenance.
