Job Description

As AECOM continues to expand our Water business in British Columbia, we're looking for an experienced Senior Civil/Municipal Engineer to help lead the delivery of complex municipal water and wastewater conveyance projects while driving the growth of our municipal practice across the Lower Mainland and throughout BC.

In this strategic role, you'll combine technical excellence with project leadership, overseeing the planning, design, and delivery of critical infrastructure projects from concept through construction. You'll also play a key role in developing client relationships, leading pursuits, and winning new work, helping shape the future of AECOM's municipal water business in the region.

If you're an accomplished engineering leader with a proven track record delivering linear water and wastewater infrastructure projects—and you're looking for an opportunity to influence both projects and business growth—we'd love to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical Oversight — Review and engage in engineering designs, technical reports, specifications, and construction documents; provide guidance to ensure quality, regulatory compliance and feasibility. Coordinate the work of a multi-discipline team of engineers
  • Stakeholder Coordination — Collaborate with engineers, contractors, government agencies, and the public to ensure alignment and compliance.
  • Project Planning & Delivery — Develop and manage project plans, schedules, budgets, and risk assessments for water and wastewater projects.
  • Contract & Procurement Management — Prepare RFPs, evaluate bids, negotiate contracts, and manage vendor relationships.
  • Budget & Financial Control — Track expenditures, forecast costs, and ensure financial accountability throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Risk & Issue Management — Identify potential risks, develop mitigation strategies, and resolve issues that arise during design or construction.
  • Reporting & Documentation — Prepare progress reports, presentations, and documentation for internal leadership and external stakeholders.
  • Sustainability & Innovation — Integrate best practices in water conservation, climate resilience, and sustainable infrastructure.
  • Business Development
  1. Serve as the primary contact for municipal clients.
  2. Identify and pursue municipal water/wastewater/conveyance opportunities.
  3. Lead proposal development, including Statement of Qualifications, technical proposals, and presentations

    Qualifications

    Minimum Requirements

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Civil, Environmental, Mechanical)
    • 10+ years of demonstrated experience in linear water and wastewater infrastructure design and construction
    • Prior business development experience in water/wastewater conveyance systems
    • Registered as a Professional Engineer within Canada

    Preferred Requirements

    • 20+ years of progressive experience in the design and project management of water/wastewater conveyance projects.
    • Motivated, team player, independent, organized with strong financial and business acumen
    • Experience working in the consulting industry and with project management concepts, principles, and duties
    • Good working knowledge of industry standard and local municipal standards and guidelines are considered an asset
    • Experience in the full spectrum of client service, starting with positioning activities, proposal development, and delivery of project designs
