Job description

The Compliance Auditor II will also work on continuous improvement of policies and procedures related to the compliance audit program, and will support registrants, both individuals and firms, by answering questions and providing guidance related to the regulatory requirements of the Compliance Audit Program. The Compliance Auditor II will lead multi-auditor teams for large firm audits, conduct individual and firm practice reviews, and mentor and assist in the assessment of Level 1 auditors.

We are looking for auditors who have strong communication skills, flourish in a people-facing role, and enjoy working as part of a strong team. The successful candidate would help guide and support the professional practice of engineering and geoscience in the province.

Our organization - one of BC's Top Employers – offers a competitive salary, comprehensive and generous benefits, an inclusive culture, and a hybrid work environment. Full details on our compensation and benefits value offering can be found below.

  • Collects, analyzes, and synthesizes information on regulatory and compliance issues from various sources. Prepares summaries and recommendations for review by senior staff, ensuring accuracy and completeness before escalation.
  • Plans and carries out individual compliance audits and firm compliance audits, with a target of 70 per year.
  • Acts as Lead Auditor for Moderate Complexity Audits, and for audits requiring multiple auditors.
  • Prepares and submits compliance audit reports with minimal input from other audit staff.
  • Acts as an audit quality reviewer primarily focusing on identifying errors and consistent assessment of regulatory requirements.
  • Independently processes and follows up on corrective actions identified during compliance audits.
  • Provide advice and ongoing support to individual and firm registrants with respect to audits.
  • Assists in the improvement of the registrant firm and individual registrant compliance audit programs by obtaining feedback from auditees and identifying areas for refinement.
  • Deliver presentations and training sessions on the audit program and related topics, as required.
  • Other duties as assigned by direct leader and, as appropriate, members of the departmental leadership team.

  • 6+ years experience writing and submitting formal technical reports.
  • 6+ years of scheduling/project management experience.
  • 2+ years experience auditing organizations for compliance to ISO 9001 (or IRCA-acceptable alternative standards).
  • Technical analysis and writing skills.
  • Effective communication skills, including experience deescalating tense interactions with clients, registrants, auditees, and/or public.
  • Experience working within a team environment to complete and report on the progress of complex projects.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Products including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
  • Experience mentoring trainees e.g. Engineers In Training, Geoscientist In Training, or junior auditors.
  • Public speaking skills; experience delivering presentations online and in person.
