Worley Consulting's Environmental & Sustainability help clients manage environmental liabilities, restore impacted sites, and deliver responsible environmental outcomes across the full asset lifecycle. Our team combines technical excellence, practical field expertise, and innovative thinking to solve complex environmental challenges while supporting regulatory compliance, risk management, and long-term sustainability objectives.

Purpose of the Role

As a Senior Environmental Scientist / Engineer / Technologist, you will play a key role in leading contaminated site assessment and remediation programs across Alberta. This role blends hands‑on field leadership with technical expertise, mentoring, and project delivery support.

You will lead field programs, contribute to Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments, provide technical oversight, and support Project Managers to ensure work is delivered safely, efficiently, and to a high technical standard.

This opportunity is well suited to experienced environmental professionals who are ready to take on broader leadership responsibility while continuing to apply strong technical judgment in the field. Calgary, Alberta or Edmonton, Alberta (Considered with Regular Travel Requirements)

This position supports environmental projects throughout the Cold Lake region. Preference will be given to candidates who are currently based in, or willing to relocate to, Cold Lake, Alberta.

Key Responsibilities

·Lead environmental field programs, including surface water and groundwater monitoring, soil sampling, drilling oversight, borehole logging, monitoring well installation, test pitting, remedial excavations, and reclamation activities.

·Balance field work with office-based technical, reporting, and project support responsibilities, with an approximate 50/50 split.

·Plan and deliver Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments, including field investigation oversight and results interpretation.

·Mentor, coach, and provide technical guidance to junior and intermediate team members.

·Provide day-to-day field leadership that helps drive safe execution, team coordination, quality field documentation, timely issue resolution, and strong project outcomes.

·Support Project Managers with planning, scheduling, cost control, subcontractor coordination, and client communication.

·Develop and champion site-specific health, safety, and sustainability plans in alignment with Worley standards and regulatory requirements.

·Prepare clear, high-quality technical reports and documentation for client and regulatory review.

Qualifications / Skill Set

·Degree or diploma in Environmental Science, Engineering, Geology, or a related field from an accredited institution.

·Professional designation, or progress toward one, such as Environmental Professional (EPT), ., ., or .; EIT or equivalent is strongly preferred.

·7+ years of progressive environmental field experience, with an emphasis on contaminated site assessment and remediation.

·Experience contributing to or reviewing Phase I and Phase II ESAs, groundwater reporting, remedial planning, and site closure projects in Alberta.

·Strong understanding of Alberta contaminated sites regulations and guidance.

·Experience leading or supervising field teams and environmental field programs.

·Self-motivated, adaptable, and comfortable managing multiple projects in a consulting environment.

·Valid Class 5 driver’s licence and willingness to travel to project sites.

·Oil and gas sector experience is an asset.
