About the Opportunity
We represent a long-established, privately held group of companies with a long history in commercial and residential real estate, large-scale land development, civil construction, and infrastructure.
The organization has a multi-generational history in Victoria and has grown into a diversified business that includes several operating companies, significant real estate holdings, land assets, and private investment activities held through a multi-entity structure.
The group is seeking a senior executive to join the organization as part of a planned succession process involving the current CFO.
This hands‑on role offers the opportunity to work closely with the existing senior management team, ownership and the current CFO as responsibilities transition over time.
The Role
The successful candidate will serve as a key advisor to the senior management team and ownership, with responsibility across:
- A substantial residential and commercial real estate portfolio
- Land holdings and private investment structures
- Three vertically integrated operating companies in land development, infrastructure, and civil and building construction
The role combines senior finance leadership with meaningful hands‑on operational involvement and participation in broader investment stewardship, structuring, and capital allocation decisions. It is expected that responsibilities will expand through a planned transition period.
This position calls for an individual who can act as both a strategic advisor and a practical operator, helping to support performance across the operating companies while contributing to long‑term asset management and investment strategy.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting
- Lead financial management across multiple entities, including reporting, forecasting, cash flow oversight, and planning
- Oversee accounting, tax planning, corporate structuring, and financing arrangements
- Ensure strong internal controls and integrity across all financial reporting
- Lead and support internal finance and administrative teams across the organization
Strategy & Capital Allocation
- Support capital allocation decisions, strategic initiatives, and growth planning across the group
- Contribute to investment evaluation, real estate portfolio oversight, and related decision‑making
- Lead enterprise‑level risk management, integrating financial, operational, and market considerations into long‑range planning.
Team & Stakeholder Leadership
- Partner with senior management on business performance improvement, systems development, and organizational efficiency
- Provide oversight and performance support to the land development, property management, construction, and infrastructure businesses
- Coordinate with external advisors including legal, tax, banking, and wealth management professionals
- Provide direct strategic, financial and operational support to the senior management team and ownership
Experience & Qualifications
- CPA designation required
- 10+ years of progressive senior finance leadership experience
- Strong background in commercial or residential real estate, construction, land development, infrastructure, or other project‑based industries
- Experience operating within complex multi‑entity corporate structures
- Solid understanding of construction accounting, work‑in‑progress reporting, and project‑based financial reporting
- Knowledge of corporate structuring, tax planning, financing strategies, and capital management
- Experience working closely with senior management, owners, founders, family leadership in privately held companies
- Exposure to real estate, private investment, or corporate/family office environments is an asset
