Mechanical Services is a vital part of Simon Fraser University’s Facilities Services, responsible for maintaining the essential systems that keep our campuses running smoothly. From HVAC to plumbing, the team ensures safe, efficient, and sustainable operations. Known for their technical expertise, collaborative spirit, and commitment to service excellence, Mechanical Services supports SFU’s academic mission by creating safe, comfortable, and functional environments for students, faculty, and staff. Their work reflects the university’s values of innovation, stewardship, and continuous improvement across all three campuses. We work hard to continuously optimize our operation finding ways to reduce energy consumption, maintenance costs, improve system reliability, and reduce our carbon footprint.
About the Role
Our Plumbers perform skilled journey-level plumbing work involving the maintenance, repair, testing, and installation of plumbing and associated mechanical systems throughout the university. The role supports the continuous operation of campus facilities by ensuring building systems function reliably, comply with applicable codes and regulations, and meet the needs of a diverse university community. The incumbent diagnoses system issues, executes preventative and corrective maintenance activities, responds to emergencies, and contributes technical expertise to maintenance and construction projects, while promoting workplace safety and environmental stewardship.
Qualifications
Red Seal Plumbing certificate, Class B Gas Fitter certificate, and five years experience in areas such as in-site service and building preventative maintenance, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Valid BC driver's license (Class 5) and basic computer skills required.
