  • Support the implementation of environmental commitments and Species at Risk mitigation and monitoring programs.

  • Participate in field logistics planning, equipment preparation, and health and safety procedures.

Qualifications

Applicants for this role MUST meet the following requirements:

  • 1–3 years of experience in environmental consulting, ecological fieldwork, environmental monitoring, or related biological studies.

  • Demonstrated interest in Species at Risk biology, ecology, and environmental assessment.

  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and standard software used for reporting, data management, and communication.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to maintain accurate field records and datasets.

  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and traverse uneven terrain for extended periods.

  • Familiarity with Ontario Species at Risk, native flora and fauna, and invasive species identification, and ecological survey techniques.

  • Basic understanding of environmental legislation and policy, including the Endangered Species Act, Species Conservation Act, Fish and Wildlife Conservation Act, Migratory Birds Convention Act, Fisheries Act, and related environmental regulations.

  • Experience using GPS units, GIS software, field data collection applications, or digital mapping tools.

  • Ability to perform physically demanding fieldwork, including carrying equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.

  • Adhere to corporate health and safety policies and participate in daily hazard assessments and safe work planning.

  • Possession of a valid Ontario driver's licence and access to reliable transportation, with a willingness to travel to project sites throughout Hamilton and surrounding areas.

Additional Assets

  • Ecological Land Classification (ELC) experience or training.
  • Experience conducting Species at Risk surveys.
  • Experience completing tree inventories, vegetation surveys, or invasive species assessments.
