Responsibilities
- Accurately review employee timecards and prepare time entry for payroll processing.
- Develop an understanding of collective bargaining agreements, payroll legislation, and company policies and apply them to time entry and payroll-related activities.
- Assist with new hire onboarding, employment letters, Records of Employment (ROEs), and employee set up in company systems.
- Maintain accurate payroll records while ensuring the confidentiality and security of sensitive information.
- Respond to employee and stakeholder inquiries related to time entry, onboarding documentation, and payroll processes.
- Assist with payroll processing activities, audits, reconciliations, and data validation as required.
- Support payroll team initiatives and continuous process improvement activities.
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with employees, supervisors, and other stakeholders.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous administrative, data entry, customer service, timekeeping, or payroll experience is considered an asset.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a team environment.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Experience working with payroll, HRIS, or timekeeping systems is considered an asset.
- Experience in a unionized payroll environment is considered an asset.
