Server Migration Administrator
Contract Opportunity | Remote (Canada) PST hours
About the Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Server Migration Administrator to support a multi-year cloud transformation initiative. This role will focus on migrating enterprise workloads from on-premises data centers to modern cloud environments while ensuring system reliability, operational continuity, and a seamless migration experience.
The successful candidate will work closely with infrastructure, cloud, networking, and application teams to prepare, migrate, support, and optimize workloads across hybrid-cloud environments.
Responsibilities
- Assist with planning and executing server and application migrations to cloud environments.
- Provide post-migration support and troubleshooting for migrated workloads.
- Configure and maintain source control repositories and automation pipelines.
- Implement and manage Active Directory, DNS, and infrastructure changes.
- Troubleshoot connectivity, networking, and cloud-related issues across hybrid environments.
- Support planned maintenance activities, upgrades, and migration initiatives.
- Participate in on-call support and provide occasional after-hours support for critical project activities.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, migration plans, and operational procedures.
- Collaborate with cross-functional technical teams to ensure successful project delivery.
- Support automation, infrastructure as code, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Extensive experience administering enterprise Windows Server environments.
- Experience supporting cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).
- Strong knowledge of Active Directory, DNS, networking, load balancing, VPNs, and hybrid-cloud connectivity.
- Experience with Azure Arc, Azure Migrate, Azure Monitor, AWS EC2, VPC, Route 53, CloudWatch, or similar cloud technologies.
- Advanced PowerShell scripting and infrastructure automation experience.
- Experience building and supporting CI/CD pipelines.
- Strong Infrastructure as Code (IaC) experience using tools such as Terraform, Bicep, ARM Templates, CloudFormation, or Ansible.
- Experience implementing high-availability and disaster recovery solutions.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and technical documentation skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Microsoft SQL Server administration experience.
- Identity and access management experience.
- Linux administration experience (RHEL, Rocky Linux, CentOS).
- Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker.
- Experience with enterprise monitoring and management tools.
- Relevant cloud or infrastructure certifications.
