Salary for the candidate will be determined taking into consideration a number of factors including: experience, skills, qualifications, anticipated contribution to role, internal equity, etc. The salary range presented above is based on a 35-hour workweek and would represent a majority of different candidate profiles. However, we encourage candidates who may fall outside of this range to apply as well.
About the role
We’re looking for a Claims Representative I, Accident Benefits, to join our growing team!
Location can be in either office: St. John's NL, Dartmouth NS, or Dieppe NB
What you'll do here:
- Proactively manage a caseload of mild to moderate Accident Benefits claims in an efficient manner and provide an exceptional claims journey for the customer.
- Ensure timely and thorough investigation and adjudication of medical claims.
- Analyze and interpret insurance policy wording to determine coverage and assess entitlements which are fair and equitable.
- Communicate in a timely and respectful manner with customers, claimants, legal representatives, and medical clinics to settle claims and report findings and settlements.
- Conduct investigations and identify additional information such as independent medical examinations, and customers' medical or employment history required to clarify and/or justify a claim.
- Collect reports and statements to determine liability and coverage.
- Ensure all cases are clearly documented and meet all legislative requirements.
What you bring to the table:
- Minimum of two years of insurance experience and minimum one year of customer service experience required.
- Hold a valid insurance license / completed C11 or its equivalent.
- A university degree or college diploma in Health Sciences (Kinesiology or Psychology) is considered an asset.
- Excellent customer service skills with a positive attitude and a love for teamwork.
- Willing to work towards a Chartered Insurance Professional designation and have the ability to become licensed in all Atlantic provinces.
- Strong verbal and written communication, critical thinking, and negotiation skills.
- Strong analytical skills; detail-oriented and organized with the ability to manage change.
- Capable of multitasking and juggling competing priorities in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Capable of working independently within a collaborative team setting.
- Strong time management skills.
- Computer literate and capable of working in a paperless environment.
- An ongoing commitment to self-development.
- Knowledge or understanding of medical terminology is an asset.
- Eager to work in a hybrid environment.
- No Canadian work experience required; however, must be eligible to work in Canada.
