The School of Nursing Master of Nursing - Nurse Practitioner (MN-NP) program requires a sessional faculty member to teach the theory component of the course NURS 5460: Nurse Practitioner Primary Healthcare II in the Fall 2026 term. The focus of NURS 5460 is on theoretical and evidence-informed knowledge and skills related to health promotion illness prevention and therapeutic management of episodic and chronic health conditions common to nurse practitioner practice across the lifespan with emphasis on womens health and pediatrics. The successful applicant will be the instructor responsible for delivering the theory component of this course appropriate to the level required for MN-NP students. Experience teaching post-secondary education is an asset. Experience teaching nurse practitioner students is an asset. Experience teaching advanced health assessment and clinical management is an asset. Experience with antenatal neonatal and pediatric care is an asset.
All theory classes are offered in a virtual environment. The total workload allocation for this assignment is 3 credits. Applicants will be contracted to share the workload with another faculty for an allocation of 2 credits.
This course includes virtual class delivery throughout the term as well as a condensed on-campus laboratory block. There is a separate teaching contract for the laboratory portion of this course which may or may not be the same as the theory faculty. Students also complete clinical practicum placements to fulfill course requirements and the clinical component is supervised by separate clinical faculty.
