Dawson Group is looking for a driven and detail-oriented System Administrator to support and maintain our growing IT infrastructure, providing reliable, hands-on technical support across the organization.
In this role, you will be a valued member of Dawson Group, working as a full time System Administrator, you will work alongside our Senior Systems Administrator and broader IT team to maintain, support, and secure our technology infrastructure. This role requires strong technical troubleshooting skills, a customer-service mindset, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Your base location will be Kamloops, BC. Given the hands-on nature of this role, regular onsite presence at our office is required.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
- Provide helpdesk and IT support to employees across Dawson Group, responding to IT tickets/requests in a knowledgeable, professional and timely manner while escalating complex issues as needed.
- Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot PCs, printers and peripherals remotely and in-person across the organization.
- Support audio-visual equipment and collaboration platforms (e.g., Microsoft Teams, meeting room AV) to ensure smooth virtual and in-person collaboration.
- Administer and support Microsoft 365 and other enterprise services, including user licensing, mailboxes, and security configurations and access permissions across business systems.
- Manage cellphones and tablets across the organization, including MDM enrollment and security policies
- Monitor system performance, diagnose issues, and implement timely resolutions to minimize downtime.
- Apply IT knowledge and project experience to effectively support and deliver IT projects, system upgrades, and equipment lifecycle management for Dawson Group, its sister companies and any other external needs.
- Support device and asset management, maintaining accurate inventories, configurations, and lifecycle records for all IT hardware and equipment.
- Deliver effective IT onboarding and offboarding, including equipment setup and system access provisioning for employees.
- Assist with the administration and maintenance of servers, network infrastructure and backup systems to ensure reliability and security.
- Collaborate with the IT team to ensure secure, reliable technology services company-wide.
- Champion cybersecurity best practices and lead the organization’s data security initiatives, including endpoint protection and access control measures.
WHAT YOU BRING
- Diploma or degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in IT system administration, network support, or helpdesk/IT support roles.
- Working knowledge of Windows, Windows Server, Microsoft 365, Active Directory, networking fundamentals, and backup systems.
- Hands-on experience applying Artificial Intelligence platforms and tools, such as Claude, Microsoft Copilot and various Agentic AI capabilities
- Experience with scripting, automation tools (e.g., PowerShell Power Automate) to streamline IT operations is considered an asset.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with a methodical, detail-oriented approach.
- Familiarity with ITIL service desk practices (incident and request management) is considered an asset.
- Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Valid driver’s license, as occasional travel between company locations may be required.
