About the Opportunity

• Consistently ensures food quality presentation and service delivery meet established department standards. Ensures meals are attractive the correct temperature andportionsize and that service istimely
• Follows production sheets to guide food preparation andassistwith cost control
• Stays up to date with the specific needs of each resident e.g. diet restrictionsallergiesand special requests/accommodations.
• Stays up to date with daily changes related to menus and/or residents.
• Familiarizes self with the specific needs of each client e.g. diet restrictionsallergiesand special requests/accommodations
• Assistswith the process for checking and receiving of deliveries and inventory control. Ensures all supplies are stored labelled and rotated properly
• Makes sure that theServeryand dining room appearance meets set standards for cleanliness organization and set up prior to meal service.
• Processes pots pans and dishware andmaintainssanitation dishwasher and dishsinksaccording toestablishedand required cleaning guidelines.
• Immediately reports any equipment temperature issues to manager and takes correctiveactionas necessary.
• Participates in the client and employee incident reporting and investigation process asrequired
• Reports areas and equipment in need of repair to the maintenance department
• Ensures kitchen appearance meets established standards for cleanliness and organization
• Additionalduties as assigned/required

About You

In addition to placing high value on continuous improvementcollaborationand accountability you bring:

• A high-school diploma or GED
• Proof of Food Safety Certificationrequired
• Successful candidates willbe requiredto obtain a clear Criminal Record Check and where applicable a Vulnerable Sector Check prior to appointment
• Experience in a kitchen setting is considered an asset.
• Previousexperience in working with the elderly in long-term care or a senior living environment considered an asset
• Bilingualism in English and French considered an asset
• First Aid and CPR certification considered an asset
• Ability to work flexible hours and shifts (including weekends and holidays)
• Strong customer service skills and a passion for serving seniors
• Experience in the culinary field and are familiar with preparing plates for clients
• A passion for the healthcare sector and/or ensuring seniors have access to quality accommodationsservicesand care
