About the Opportunity
- Consistently ensures food quality presentation and service delivery meet established department standards. Ensures meals are attractive the correct temperature andportionsize and that service istimely
- Follows production sheets to guide food preparation andassistwith cost control
- Stays up to date with the specific needs of each resident e.g. diet restrictionsallergiesand special requests/accommodations.
- Stays up to date with daily changes related to menus and/or residents.
- Familiarizes self with the specific needs of each client e.g. diet restrictionsallergiesand special requests/accommodations
- Assistswith the process for checking and receiving of deliveries and inventory control. Ensures all supplies are stored labelled and rotated properly
- Makes sure that theServeryand dining room appearance meets set standards for cleanliness organization and set up prior to meal service.
- Processes pots pans and dishware andmaintainssanitation dishwasher and dishsinksaccording toestablishedand required cleaning guidelines.
- Immediately reports any equipment temperature issues to manager and takes correctiveactionas necessary.
- Participates in the client and employee incident reporting and investigation process asrequired
- Reports areas and equipment in need of repair to the maintenance department
- Ensures kitchen appearance meets established standards for cleanliness and organization
- Additionalduties as assigned/required
About You
In addition to placing high value on continuous improvementcollaborationand accountability you bring:
- A high-school diploma or GED
- Proof of Food Safety Certificationrequired
- Successful candidates willbe requiredto obtain a clear Criminal Record Check and where applicable a Vulnerable Sector Check prior to appointment
- Experience in a kitchen setting is considered an asset.
- Previousexperience in working with the elderly in long-term care or a senior living environment considered an asset
- Bilingualism in English and French considered an asset
- First Aid and CPR certification considered an asset
- Ability to work flexible hours and shifts (including weekends and holidays)
- Strong customer service skills and a passion for serving seniors
- Experience in the culinary field and are familiar with preparing plates for clients
- A passion for the healthcare sector and/or ensuring seniors have access to quality accommodationsservicesand care
