In accordance with the Vision Purpose and Values and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health) patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.
Reporting to the President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) the Board Liaison works directly with the Island Health Board Chair and all Board Directors and is accountable for managing all aspects of Board operations coordinating reporting and completing senior level administrative functions for the Board and its addition this position provides confidential coordination and executive support to the Board Chair. This position reviews issues and prepares reports for the Board such as briefing notes issue papers and updates for the President and CEO in support of selected Board committees to support policy development and effective Board governance. The Board Liaison assesses complex multifaceted issues engages internal and external stakeholders and develops recommendations; communicates recommendations risks and alternatives.
The Board Liaison provides support to the Board Chair and Committee Chairs in accordance with committee terms of reference providing support to the Board and Committee chairs to ensure all committee meetings and functions are conducted with efficiency and effectiveness. This position is responsible for preparing Board Committee agendas resolutions effectively scheduling and managing engagement activities for the Chair and Board of Directors and for developing related reports presentations and correspondence to ensure the governance-related functions of the Board are met.
A level of education training and experience equivalent to a Bachelors Degree with seven (7) years related experience including experience as a Chartered Secretary Paralegal with Corporate Secretarial or Roberts Rules of Order expertise working in a large complex organization preferably in health care corporate governance or the public sector.
