With offices across Canada, the United States, and the Philippines, we provide global expertise to help our clients de-risk and maximize their project value. Our projects span mineral processing plants, renewable fuels, hydrogen production facilities, and more. Sustainability and innovation are at the heart of what we do, driving our mission to create a better future for all. Join our team to make a meaningful impact in building sustainable solutions.

Role Overview

We are seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will perform structural engineering tasks, including determining design criteria, preparing engineering calculations and technical designs, performing computer analysis, and developing drawing layouts and construction details. You will also direct and mentor junior engineers and engineers-in-training and check their work as required. Secondary tasks include conducting design studies, developing work hour and cost estimates, attending existing facilities for data collection and assessments, attending construction sites for field inspection reviews, and drafting reports.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor team members to foster growth and enhance skills.
  • Set clear goals and expectations, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Promote a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Independently manage projects, ensuring they stay within budget and schedule and meet client requirements.
  • Provide design work to support drafters and designers, check designs and drawings.

Technical Expertise

  • Oversee the design and development of buildings, civil structures, industrial structures, and foundations to support them, using structural steel, reinforced concrete, masonry, and other construction materials.
  • Create engineering calculations and designs manually or using general and specialty software.
  • Design for conventional loading, seismic loading, equipment vibration, hydraulic loads, and other loads as required.
  • Conduct detailed feasibility studies, risk assessments, and technical evaluations.
  • Stay updated on industry advancements and integrate best practices into projects.

Stakeholder Communication

  • Collaborate with internal teams, clients, and external partners to define project requirements.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for stakeholders, ensuring transparency and alignment.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations, reports, and updates for diverse audiences.

Compliance and Standards

  • Ensure projects meet regulatory and safety standards, including the National Building Code of Canada, CSA S16, CSA A23.3, CSA S304, and others.
  • Implement quality control measures to maintain high standards across deliverables.
  • Address and resolve compliance-related challenges proactively.
  • Site travel may be required on an as‑needed basis.

Strategic Contributions

  • Identify opportunities for growth, innovation, and process optimization.
  • Support long‑term planning by contributing to business development initiatives.
  • Participate in setting organizational goals and aligning project strategies accordingly.
  • Mentor junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence at all levels.
  • Build strong relationships with vendors, suppliers, and external partners.

The Ideal Candidate will:

  • Exhibit technical expertise, creativity, and self‑motivation.
  • Demonstrate client focus and a commitment to quality and safety.
  • Thrive in team‑oriented environments.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil (Structural) Engineering.
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in at least one Canadian province.
  • Eligibility for registration in Quebec (OIQ), including meeting French language proficiency requirements, is considered an asset.
  • Minimum of 8‑10 years of experience in the heavy industrial sector (preferably mining) within Canada; alternatively, a minimum of 15+ years of experience in the commercial or light industrial sectors within Canada.
  • Proficiency in structural analysis software such as RISA 3D, S‑Frame, or STAAD.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to effectively coordinate and communicate within a team.
  • Demonstrated experience managing and supporting remote teams across multiple locations.
  • Proficient in verbal English communication, technical writing, and sketching.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work within defined schedules and budgets.
  • Excellent problem‑solving and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to sustainability and continuous improvement.

Benefits (We Offer)

  • Competitive Compensation: Fair pay reflective of your skills and contributions.
  • Work‑Life Balance: Flexible work arrangements to support your well‑being.
  • Growth Opportunities: Continuous development through training and mentorship.
