At Jacobs, we're challenging today to reinvent tomorrow by solving the world's most critical problems for thriving cities, resilient environments, mission-critical outcomes, operational advancement, scientific discovery and cutting-edge manufacturing, turning abstract ideas into realities that transform the world for good.

Your impact

Jacobs is currently looking to hire an Environmental Planning and Permitting Professional to join our dynamic team in a full-time hybrid office-home role based out of one of our British Columbia offices (Burnaby or Victoria).

In this position, you will support the environmental planning and permitting of infrastructure projects across Western Canada with a primary focus on projects in British Columbia. This role offers an exciting opportunity to play a leadership role in advancing critical infrastructure project delivery in a sustainable manner. You will support the development of permitting and approval strategies from detailed project design through construction and support environmental regulatory compliance. Our team provides a collaborative environment where you'll work alongside our experienced professionals who are committed to mentoring and supporting your professional growth.

If you’re passionate about environmental consulting and enjoy collaborating with diverse teams, we encourage you to apply. Bring your enthusiasm for learning and desire to work in the environment field in support of infrastructure project delivery, and we’ll help you grow.

Responsibilities include:

•Support federal, provincial and municipal permitting throughout the project lifecycle, working with our strong technical team to complete regulatory applications, support Indigenous and stakeholder consultation, and develop technical reporting in collaboration with regulatory agencies.

•Provide strategic advice to clients and project teams on regulatory pathways, permitting risks and mitigations, approvals sequencing, and permitting timelines.

•Oversee the identification, tracking, and acquisition of environmental permits, licenses, authorizations, and agreements.

•Validate and maintain permits and approvals registers, commitments logs, conditions registers, and other compliance related actions.

•Support regulator engagement and Indigenous consultation by preparing materials including project summaries and presentations, engagement and consultation logs, and participating in meetings

•Provide coaching, technical review, and oversight to junior staff to support quality, consistency, and skill development.

•Contribute to proposals and business development efforts, particularly supporting development and implementation of permitting execution strategies, and project experience summaries.

•Manage permitting task budgets and support change management.

•Be a Safety Leader and promote Jacobs Beyond Zero and our culture of caring.

Here's what you'll need

•University degree in Applied Sciences, Environmental Science, Natural Sciences, or a related field.

•5+ years of relevant permitting experience, preferably in a consulting environment working on infrastructure or energy projects. Direct experience with infrastructure projects in British Columbia is considered a strong asset.

•Demonstrated knowledge of British Columbia permitting requirements for infrastructure or energy projects.

•Demonstrated ability of excellent written and verbal communication skills and willingness to be client facing to support our planning and permitting services.

•Time management skills, with the ability to simultaneously work on multiple tasks and projects and meet project deadlines.

•A high level of demonstrated initiative, problem solving abilities, and ability to work under minimal supervision.

•Experience in regulator or stakeholder engagement and Indigenous consultation in support of regulatory applications.
