Job Description
Reporting to the Coordinator, Retail Services, the Retail Services Associate II is a member of the retail staff who are the face of the Bookstore. The position performs a range of duties including cashier which support the mission and goals of the Bookstore. Retail Services Associates are located at Bookstores on each campus. TYPICAL DUTIES
- Performs the bookstore cashier and campus cashier functions using the Bookstore’s point of sale system and the college’s integrated database system (Colleague), which includes but is not limited to: key holder responsibilities, preparing monies for deposit, stocking product on the floor, and checking packing slips/invoices for accuracy;
- Administers ecommerce fulfillment by processing web orders and returns;
- Helps with special requests, providing knowledgeable college information in general and bookstore services specifically; follows up on customer inquires, special orders using the point of sale system and other associated spreadsheets and files/records;
- Participates in the planning and execution of bookstore sales, promotions, and events, including but not limited to merchandising, displays, signage, decorations, prizes, using/updating the in-store televised monitor, etc;
- Arranges for transfer of merchandise to other campus locations, monitors merchandise for shortages and advises supervisor/other staff as appropriate;
- Assists in a variety of fiscal year-end tasks as relates to inventory preparation at both bookstore locations;
- Assists in the training of term and casual bookstore employees, as requested by supervisor;
In addition, completes the Retail Associate I duties including but not limited to:
- Performs a variety of activities using the Bookstore’s point of sale system,
- Completes locker and rental functions using the point of sale system; maintains confidentiality of student information to meet privacy and security requirements;
- Provides exceptional customer services through a various methods; assists a wide range of bookstore customers with finding and purchasing various items as well as providing information on bookstore services;
- Performs inventory checks and balances and ensures that shelves are stocked and labelled correctly;
- Stocks, refolds and tidies bookstore products and stocks; participates in maintaining a clean and attractive retail and work environment;
- Assists with ecommerce fulfillment by picking and packing products for orders, distributing and tracking orders;
- During peak business periods complete crowd control measures as directed by supervisor to assist with in-store customer volumes;
- Performs other related duties similar in scope and complexity.
Qualifications This position is subject to a police information check.Grade plus two year applicable college diploma, such as business, marketing or accounting, and two years of retail sales experience which includes ecommerce fulfillment and complex transactions with a computerized point-of-sale system or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Demonstrated success in providing excellent customer service and to a wide range of customers such as students, employees, and the general public;
- Demonstrated ability for accuracy, applying and following cash control procedures, and applicable math skills;
- Proven keyboarding skills and ability using the full Microsoft Office suite (Word, Access, Excel, and Outlook);
- A team player with proven organizational skills.
