About Greenfield Produce

GreenfieldProduce Ltd. is the distribution arm of Kins Farm Market a family-foundedproduce retailer with up to 20 locations across the Greater Vancouver our central distribution centre in Richmond we move fresh produce dailyto our retail network and to outside sales customers. The pace is fast theproduct is perishable and the standards are high.

Weare looking for someone who sees this as a long-term role and takes genuineownership of the operation. The expectation is not just to manage the warehouseday to day but to build the standards processes and team capability thatmake it run well consistently.

The Role

Reportingto the President the Warehouse Manager is responsible for the full operationalperformance of the Greenfield distribution centre. This is a working managerposition. You will be on the floor every day operating equipment directingyour team and making decisions in real time. You are also expected to own thenumbers: labour cost shrink freight and budget variance all sit with you.

Thisrole requires flexibility around early mornings weekends urgent deliveryissues and seasonal volume swings. The Warehouse Manager is expected to bereachable and responsive when warehouse issues materially affect store serviceproduct quality or customer delivery.

Responsibilities

Operations & Distribution

Direct all dailywarehouse activities: receiving cold storage order assembly staging anddispatch to up to 20 retail locations and outside sales customers.

Coordinate and arrangedelivery logistics for external customers alongside the retail network.

Manage outbound freightscheduling and carrier relationships; hold vendors accountable to agreed costand service terms.

Operate forklifts andpower equipment as required; ensure all team members hold valid licenses andfollow safe procedures.

Monitor and maintaincold storage within required temperature ranges at all times; log conditionsand escalate any deviation without delay.

Manage warehouseinventory supplies and equipment condition; initiate maintenance work ordersand capital recommendations proactively.

Understand qualitystandards thoroughly and ensure receiving inspections and weight checks arecompleted correctly by the appropriate team members; able to provideoperational coverage for the QA Supervisor when required.

Order Accuracy & Error Prevention

Own the end-to-endaccuracy of store orders including missing cases wrong items packing errorsstaging errors and delivery-related discrepancies.

Establish and maintain aclear error-tracking process for warehouse mistakes including root causeresponsible area corrective action and follow-up date.

Identify repeat issuesby store route picker driver product type or process step and implementpractical changes to prevent recurrence.

Ensure pallets arebuilt staged wrapped and loaded according to company standards withparticular attention to product protection crush prevention and load stability.

Create and enforcehandling standards for delicate and sensitive products including berries softfruit herbs leafy greens and any other items vulnerable to bruisingcrushing temperature abuse or moisture damage.

Conduct regular flooraudits of picked orders wrapped pallets staged shipments and returned claimsto verify that standards are being followed.

Financial Performance

Own and manage thewarehouse operating budget; track actuals and report variances to the Presidenton a regular cadence.

Monitor and controllabour cost as a percentage of throughput; identify and act on schedulinginefficiencies.

Drive shrink andspoilage reduction through disciplined FIFO rotation daily cooler checks andrigorous receiving standards.

Negotiate freight andsupply costs; identify expense optimization opportunities across all warehousefunctions.

Track and reportoperational KPIs including order accuracy on-time delivery labour % andshrink %.

Labour Planning & Productivity

Build labour schedulesbased on order volume delivery windows receiving volume and operationalpriorities.

Measure warehouseproductivity and use data to determine whether issues are caused by staffinglevels process design supervision training or performance.

Prepare business casesfor additional labour wage adjustments equipment or process changes whenneeded supported by measurable operational impact.

Balance cost controlwith service reliability product quality and employee safety.

People & Team

Lead a hands-on team ofwarehouse staff including order pickers and drivers; set clear expectations andfollow through consistently.

Manage scheduling aroundoperational demand early mornings evenings and weekends included.

Interview onboardtrain and develop team members; conduct structured performance reviews.

Run daily briefings;communicate priorities clearly and adjust direction as conditions changethroughout the day.

Maintain a saferespectful workplace in full compliance with WorkSafe BC requirements; be a visibleexample of safety culture.

Training Accountability & Follow-Through

Train pickers wrappersreceivers drivers and supervisors on documented warehouse standardsincluding order accuracy pallet building product handling and deliveryexpectations.

Follow up on trainingthrough direct observation coaching retraining and documented correctiveaction where required.

Hold team membersaccountable for repeat errors while also identifying whether issues are causedby unclear process poor training staffing gaps equipment limitations orsupervision gaps.

Lead corrective-actionmeetings when operational failures occur and come prepared with proposedsolutions not only explanations.

Take ownership ofwarehouse results and communicate clearly when additional resources arerequired supported by data and a practical plan not generalizations.

Performancein this role will be measured against the following outcomes:

Store order accuracy andreduction of missing-case claims.

On-time dispatch anddelivery performance.

Reduction in repeaterrors by store route picker driver or product category.

Compliance with palletwrapping load stability and delicate-product handling standards.

Shrink and spoilagereduction through FIFO discipline temperature control and product protection.

Labour cost controlledrelative to volume and service requirements.

Completion of documentedtraining coaching and corrective action follow-up.

Safe warehouse practicesand WorkSafe BC compliance.

What Were Looking For

Thefollowing describes the candidate who will be successful in this role:

Experience:

35 years in warehouse or distribution centreoperations; produce or perishables background is a meaningful advantage

Management:

Priorexperience supervising a team in an operational setting with demonstratedability to hold people accountable

ForkliftLicence:

Valid BC licence required must be able to operateindependently from day one

DriversLicence:

Valid BC Class 5

FoodSafety:

Familiarity with food safety programs (CanadaGAP orequivalent) and related compliance requirements

FinancialLiteracy:

Comfortable working within a budget; understandslabour cost % shrink metrics and freight cost management

Technology:

Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel and Word); experience workingwithin an ERP system is an asset

Schedule:

Flexible availability around early mornings weekendsand seasonal volume demands

Physical:

Able to lift up to 50 lbs; extended daily time on the warehouse floor

Post-secondary educationin supply chain logistics or business management.

Background in fresh produceor perishable goods distribution.

Experience with WorkSafeBC compliance programs and WHMIS.
