Job description
  • University graduation in Commerce Business Administration or related discipline.
  • Minimum of 10 years progressively responsible experience in a senior management position in a complex demanding and professional operation.
  • Thorough knowledge of exhibit management transportation systems continuity of evidence cash handling accounting practices security safety and maintenance for buildings storage and vehicles.
  • Thorough knowledge of principles and techniques of effective management and administration including objective setting organizational design budget formulation and expenditure control.
  • Thorough knowledge of judicial procedures Court of Queens Bench procedures Provincial Court procedures legal concepts related to exhibits and Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy legislation.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of Police Service members representatives of outside agencies and the public.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective communication systems to ensure expedient exchange of information and branch effectiveness.
  • Ability to negotiate and liaise effectively with branch staff senior management and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to develop long-term plans set priorities manage resources and lead in a high-volume high-accountability environment.
  • Ability to obtain Community Peace Officer status and International Association for Property and Evidence (IAPE) membership within six months of hire.
  • Knowledge of EPS and City of Edmonton policies and procedures is an asset.
  • Must possess a valid Class 5 Alberta Drivers License and valid for 5 years. Must complete a City Drivers License application.

Hours of Work: 36.9 hours per week Monday Friday.

Salary Range: 95M Salary Grade: ML4 $161608.04 - $202010.05 (Annually).

The Director is responsible for the leadership administration and overall operation of the Exhibit Management Branch (EMB) within the Edmonton Police Service (EPS). EMB includes the Police Seized Vehicle Section (PSVS) and the Property Exhibit Section (PES) which includes the Drug Exhibit Unit (DEU) and Cash Processing Centre (CPC). This is both a significant leadership position and a key collaborative role within EPS requiring the incumbent to lead a complex operational portfolio while working closely with leaders and colleagues across the organization. The Director supports execution of the strategic plan and objectives of the Business Operations Division and Corporate Services Bureau by aligning branch services priorities and business plans with broader divisional bureau and organizational direction. The Director provides leadership direction and guidance to professional and administrative staff contributes as a trusted partner within the leadership team and supports organizational change and continuous improvement.
Reporting to the Executive Director Business Operations Division the Director provides strategic and operational leadership for EMB and is accountable for ensuring that exhibit and seized vehicle management activities are carried out in accordance with legislative regulatory and administrative requirements. The Director ensures the integrity of processes related to the handling storage release and disposal of seized property and vehicles provides expert advice on exhibit management services and works closely with other EPS leaders and subject matter experts to support divisional bureau and organizational priorities. The Director is responsible for the following:

  • Lead the strategic direction of the Exhibit Management Branch by aligning services priorities and business plans with EPS corporate direction and operational needs.
  • Apply strong business acumen to modernize optimize and innovate exhibit management services workflows storage solutions and supporting systems.
  • Lead continuous improvement and change initiatives that enhance efficiency accountability service delivery and operational effectiveness.
  • Use data performance trends and risk information to support forecasting long-term planning resource optimization and sound business decisions.
  • Manage branch budgets staffing materials and space requirements to ensure safe reliable and cost-effective service delivery.
  • Monitor legislative industry and operational trends and develop strategies to meet evolving business requirements and future demands.
  • Provide leadership for the secure intake storage release and disposal of exhibits and seized vehicles ensuring operational integrity compliance and service excellence.
  • Oversee towing auction scrap and related service contracts to ensure value-driven responsive and compliant service delivery.
  • Provide subject matter expertise briefings and strategic advice to support divisional leadership and organizational decision-making.
