Maintenance Technician Electrician (Commercial)

Description

SUMMARY

Reporting to the manager/supervisor the Electricianis responsiblefor performing maintenance routineand on-demand services including installing and repairing electrical wiring and devices related to building. The incumbent will also be required to perform other general trade duties as Electrician is alsoresponsible for performing work in accordance with established processes and practices and for complyingwith internal and external requirements includingbut not limited toenvironmental health and safety fire protection.

At this position level:

- Performs a variety of service work in one or more specialized building systems such as mechanical electrical / electronic or machine servicing etc

- Certified Electrician

- Works from drawings schematics blueprints job layouts and/or verbal instructions and operates a variety of tools and machines incidental to operations.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

- Performs regular facility maintenance and inspection

- Provides observations about facility grounds andnon-technical component conditions and deficiencies and provides suggestions for enhancements and repair

- Responds to routine and on-demand service requests

- Performs maintenance on technical and non-technicalcomponentswithin thefacility

- Records resolution data within service maintenance management work completed meets quality contract response and all other requirements

- Receives tracks monitors and reports status ofmaintenance work within servicemaintenance management documents to obtain formal approval of work required

- Assists in theimplementation ofpreventative maintenance program. Ensures that deficiencies areidentified/rectified recorded and escalated and that related documentation is maintained

- Participates in and assists with facility-related projects

- Ensures the manner in which work is performed is in compliancewith corporate andlegislated policies procedures practices and guidelines related to environmental health and safety fire protection and any other applicable requirements

- Maintains all assigned tools and parts inventory andarranges for repair and replacement where required

- Assist peers team members and others as needed; respectfully request assistance of others where necessary

- Assists in enhancingcustomer satisfaction and maintaining positive relations through manner in which work is performed and services delivered

- Respect the rights of the patient/client and their families in reference to confidentiality privacy beliefs and values

- Participate in change by adapting and contributing new knowledge and skills in their area of expertise

- Decide when outside/additional resources need to be contacted and determine if work is within BGIS contractual scope

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

- Completion of a two-year technical degree or equivalent plus two years experience as an Electrical Tradesperson.

- Requires an Electrical Ticket including five or more years experience in operations and maintenance

- High school trades-related training preferred (Fire & security systems related courses)

- Requires in-depth knowledge of various maintenance fundamentals sufficient to deal with service and repairs.

- Must be physically able to perform basic maintenance tasks to the highest caliber which includes ability to: climb ladders work in confined spaces lift heavy objects weighing up to 50lbs etc.

- May be required to use a variety of hand and power tools or forklift

- Ability to provideobservation about facility conditions anddeficiencies and to provide suggestionsfor enhancements

- Ability to research learn and gain greater proficiency in applying the following on-the-job fire life safety and buildingcodes and standards

- Possess a strong environmental health and safety mindset. Ability to perform work in a safe manner

- Strong client-service orientationalong with a high sense of urgency

- Effectivecommunication skills forthe purpose of data relay exchange feedbackand clarification

- Working knowledge of computer software applications (computerized maintenance management system experiences an asset)

- Ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team

- Perform other duties as required

Licenses and/or ProfessionalAccreditation

- Certified Electrician

- Fire & security systems certification(s) an asset
