The Chemistry Department at Thompson Rivers University (TRU) invites applications for up to two 4-month sessional positions starting September 1 2026. In this lab-oriented position candidates will create and maintain a positive and engaging learning environment while teaching labs in general and/or organic chemistry. Preference will be given to candidates with a documented track record of a successful reflective laboratory teaching practice at the post-secondary level. Successful candidates may teach the following:
CHEM 1500 general chemistry labs
CHEM2120 organic chemistry labs
Our department is a collection of passionate chemistry educators interested in inspiring the next generation of chemists. The department offers BSc Majors in Chemistry Environmental Chemistry and Chemical Biology as well as service courses to Engineering (ENG) and other departments.

We seek applicants with a strong track-record of excellence in scholarly teaching in the field of general and/or organic chemistry. Applicants who are close to completion of their relevant MSc are welcome to apply and will be considered. The position entails creating and maintaining a positive engaging learning environment and inspiring students in their chemistry studies. Accordingly applicants must demonstrate high standards and success in laboratory safety and demonstrated lab skills.

This position is ideal for a recent graduate looking to gain additional experience in post-secondary teaching.
