Join One of Canada’s Best Managed Companies!

Site Supervisor
Yellowknife, NT – N60 Project Sites
Reports to: Site Superintendent
Department: Projects N60

At KBL, we do things differently. As Western Canada’s largest environmental waste management company—born in the North and built on resilience—we’ve grown by trusting our people, keeping them safe and backing bold ideas. We're proud to be recognized as one of Canada’s Best Managed Companies!

We’re looking for an experienced Site Supervisor to lead field operations on large-scale environmental remediation projects. This role is responsible for overseeing crews, coordinating equipment and subcontractors, and ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with project specifications. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining site safety, quality, and productivity while supporting overall project delivery.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead overall site safety and compliance, including incident reporting and daily tailgate meetings.
    • Supervise and coordinate crews of 10–20 operators and laborers to safely execute daily work.
    • Manage site activities including pipe fusing, pipelaying, earthworks, and moisture conditioning of clay and gravel.
    • Coordinate subcontractors and communicate with clients, consultants, and project leadership.
    • Ensure equipment is properly utilized, maintained, greased, and fueled daily.
    • Work with surveyors to achieve required grades, elevations, and cut/fill balances.
    • Read and interpret blueprints and design drawings to guide construction activities.
    • Manage project schedules and budgets while maintaining productivity and efficiency.
    • Ensure industry best practices and quality standards are consistently followed.
    • Report directly to the Area Superintendent on project progress and site performance.

Who You Are

  • Experienced in road building, culvert installation, landfill construction, landfill gas systems, mining, or large-scale earthworks.
    • A strong leader who can organize crews, manage priorities, and keep projects moving.
    • A clear communicator who works well with crews, subcontractors, clients, and project teams.
    • Committed to achieving company and project goals while maintaining a strong safety culture.

What You Need

  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
    • Experience coordinating crews, subcontractors, and heavy equipment on active job sites.
    • Comfort working long shifts in physically demanding environments.
    • Familiarity with heavy equipment fleets including excavators, dozers, rock trucks, and compactors.
    • Strong understanding of earthworks processes and site grading requirements.

We’re committed to providing a safe, supportive work environment. Reasonable accommodations are available to those who qualify.

Why You’ll Love Working Here

  • Trust & Empowerment: Empowered culture with minimal bureaucracy- just real responsibility, ownership, and the flexibility to do your best work

  • Growth & Agility: We’re entrepreneurial by nature—quick to adapt and deeply invested in your development

  • Care & Commitment: From top-tier benefits (including $3,000 annually for psychological support) to a focus on safety and wellness, we put our people first

  • Meaningful Impact: Your work helps build safer, cleaner communities across Canada and that’s something to be proud of

Why You’ll Love Our Perks

  • Competitive wage, allowances and above-market benefits

  • RRSP matching, Health Care Spending Account, Wellness account, and flexible work options where feasible

  • Paid training and development opportunities, Manager training program, formal Employee Recognition program

We’re Proud of Where We Come From—and Where We’re Going

Founded in the North in 2006 and led by an EY Entrepreneur of the Year, KBL continues to grow with purpose and agility. We share our success with our people and invest in their well-being every step of the way.

KBL is committed to diversity and inclusion. Accommodations are available throughout the recruitment process. Please notify us if you require any.

Preference may be given to Indigenous applicants as per contractual requirements for certain postings. We encourage you to self-identify your Indigenous status and community on your resume if applicable.
