  • Prepare budgets for prospective projects and manage multiple estimates simultaneously.
  • Establish strong relationships with suppliers and sub-trades to ensure competitive pricing.
  • Review projects to develop winning strategies and interpret client and design information to ensure a complete system.
  • Critically review requests for proposals, preliminary designs, estimates, and proposals.
  • Support operations team with some project management work.
  • Attend site visits, client meetings, and participate in pre-bid and post-bid meetings.
  • Collaborate with account managers, estimators, and service managers to support project success.
  • Ensure quick turnaround on estimates for plumbing, HVAC, and sheet metal projects, including design-build and plan-spec projects, retrofit projects, industrial projects, and institutional projects

Qualifications :

  • 10+ years of relevant mechanical estimating experience, with strong exposure to organizing and preparing cost estimates and proposals for mechanical , plumbing , or sheet metal construction projects.
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in mechanical or construction technology, or relevant field experience in mechanical trades.
  • Proven project and resource management skills, with demonstrated leadership abilities.
  • Ability to interpret site and building plans and specifications.
  • Experience with design-build and plan-spec projects, dehumidifier replacement, retrofit projects, and hospital operations / maintenance.
  • Ability to estimate for plumbing, HVAC, and sheet metal projects with quick turnaround.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical specifications, construction methods, and procedures.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, time management, and multitasking skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Access, Project) and familiarity with computerized estimating systems (Autobid Mechanical, Autobid Sheetmetal).
  • We thank all applicants for their interest, however, only those selected for an interview will be contacted.

At Modern Niagara, we recognize the value of fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive organization and are committed to eliminating barriers faced by members of equity-seeking groups (women, Indigenous, Black, racialized, 2SLGBTQIA+, people with disabilities, and new immigrants) in the construction industry.
