The Opportunity - Instructional Assistant, Welding (temporary, full-time)

This position is responsible for assisting instructors in the creation of the learning environment leading to student success; preparing, distributing, or demonstrating equipment and materials; assisting students; and performing additional tasks as required.

Key Job Functions:

• Provide direct support to Instructors in assigned programs.
• Support the delivery of Instruction by:Ordering, purchasing, inventoryupdate of materials and supplies for assigned classesCo-ordinate and/or carry out the collection, preparation of materials/ supplies required for instruction Set up and take down labs Prepare and maintain materials for student study purposes Maintain required recordsProvide in-class and lab assistance, not involving direct instructionAssist in exam monitoring
• Participate as a member of Instructional Support Teams and other College groups/ teams
• Assist with College events, promotion / recruiting activities

Education/Experience/Skills/Knowledge Required:

• Journeyperson Certification in Welding with a minimum of three (3) years of related experience as a Journeyperson. Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• A Certificate or Diploma in Welding Technology or equivalent would be a definite asset.
• Experience instructing apprenticeship welding at the post-secondary level
• The ability to work in both a team environment and independently with minimal supervision is essential.
• Strong interpersonal skills and organizational abilities
• Demonstrated ability to use technology including Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and the internet

Conditions of Employment:

• May be required to do heavy lifting, repetitive physical work and operating equipment.
• Some work outside of regular College operating hours may be required.
• Current Criminal Reference check that is free of any offenses.
• Must respect and actively promote health and safety policies.
