Job description

Your Opportunity:

The Central Alberta Cancer Centre (CACC) is currently searching for a Physiotherpist I (PTI) to join our dedicated Cancer Care Alberta Team. The (PTI) will deliver meaningful outpatient rehabilitation oncology care in a collaborative patient-focused environment while enjoying consistent day shifts and flexible scheduling with days hours and FTE negotiable. You will provide comprehensive outpatient assessment treatment education and consultation to adult patients experiencing cancer-related impairments such as lymphedema chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy cording fatigue mobility and range of motion limitations neurological concerns and pain and symptom challenges across a range of diagnoses including breast and head and neck cancers. The PTI will lead patient education classes and work closely with an interdisciplinary team and community partners to support optimal patient this dynamic role you may serve as a direct care provider consultant educator and advocate while contributing to mentorship professional development and quality improvement or research initiatives that advance best practices in rehabilitation oncology. Description:

As the Physiotherapist I (PT) you will provide therapeutic interventions to enable clients to achieve optimum physical function and independence in development disease disability chronic conditions illness and functional decline. You will provide intervention (i.e. prevention triage screening assessment diagnosis goal setting treatment management education consultation fostering resourcefulness case management referral and transition support to individuals groups populations and communities. You will include clients and families as integral members of the health care team encouraging their active participation in all aspects of care. The PT collaborates with patient(s) and families in determining implementing and evaluating appropriate rehabilitation strategies. You will participate in a variety of interprofessional teams to build awareness enrich supports and engage in quality improvement; partnering with healthcare providers patients families and other stakeholders to advance services for their clients. You will contribute to quality improvement and their professional community; participates in peer mentoring; and supervises students. You may provide clinical supervision to Therapy Assistants Therapy Aides and Provisional Physiotherapists.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited university program. Current registration with the College of Physiotherapists of Alberta.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Minimum 1 year of clinical experience in an inpatient or outpatient acute care or rehabilitation area (e.g. neurology orthopedics medicine geriatrics palliative care and home care). Experience in providing physiotherapy in an interdisciplinary team is essential. Proficiency in Microsoft office program and basic computer skills. Ability to demonstrate critical thinking and decision-making skills in a complex environment. BCLS certification required. Its Your Move Patient Handling annual certification required. Must have a good understanding of appropriate body mechanics and Its Your Move Patient Handling techniques and graduates or students in final year of a recognized PT program are encouraged to apply.

Preferred Qualifications:

Oncology experience specifically pain/symptom control head and neck cancers cancers of CNS breast cancer and lymphedema management. Professional development/certification related to oncologic services e.g. lymphedema management manual lymphatic drainage and acupuncture. Established relationships with relevant programs in Cancer Care Alberta. Experience in Connect Care/EPIC electronic documentation. Alberta Aids to Daily Living (AADL) Authorizer.
