Description

In accordance with the Vision Purpose and Values and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health) patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.

Reporting to the Manager the Regional Rehab Quality Resource provides regional expertise on quality and safety standards and practice issues for Island Healths rehabilitation programs. Utilizing evidence-based practice principles is accountable to drive quality improvement through design planning implementation evaluation and sustainment of clinical standards policies/procedures and quality and process improvement initiatives for the rehabilitation services across the care continuum including acute therapy services inpatient rehabilitation and community-based rehabilitation. This role provides consultation and education with various rehabilitation teams including Community Practice Resource Rehab Navigator and Operational Practice Support to ensure clinical standards policies/procedures and process changes are implemented in a sustainable way.

The Regional Rehab Quality Resource fosters collaborative relationships with internal and external partners advocates for best practices in rehabilitation services in a variety of settings and leads and participates in continuous quality improvement accreditation research utilization management and education to enhance patient outcomes and system efficiency; maintains a variety of records; chairs designated meetings/committees; prepares and delivers presentations.

Accountable to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada as per TRC (2015) and BCs Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019).

Travel is a requirement of this position and transportation arrangements must meet the operational requirements of Island Health.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education Training And Experience

An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered.

  • Current licensure in a practicing category with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC as a Physiotherapist; and
  • Five (5) years recent related clinical experience and three (3) years experience in an advanced clinical position.
  • Post secondary courses in Adult Education Process Improvement and/or Change Management
  • Experience working with Indigenous groups and fostering Indigenous relations with a focus on Truth and Reconciliation Calls to Action Knowledge of program relevant legislation policies and standards.
  • Knowledge of current evidence-based rehabilitation issues and standards including the National Rehabilitation Reporting System (NRS)-a division of the Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI) Canadian Stroke Best Practice Guidelines Canadian Clinical Practice Guideline for the Rehabilitation of Adults with Moderate to Severe TBI Canadian Spinal Cord Injury Practice Guidelines and other relevant evidence-based practice guidelines and tools for other populations such as geriatrics orthopedics amputations etc.
  • Valid BC Drivers License

Skills And Abilities

  • Comprehensive knowledge of evidence-based clinical practice related to rehabilitation and brain/neuro and musculoskeletal injuries/conditions current trends and practice.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of short- and long-term impact of MSK/Orthopaedic/Arthritis/Brain Injury/Neurological/illness on individuals their families and their community and learning the needs of those caring for and living with affected individuals.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the standards of practice and guidelines for clinical practitioners.
  • Broad knowledge of other health care disciplines and their role in patient care.
  • Knowledge of community resources across the health authority.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with co-workers physicians other health care team members patients and their families either one-on-one and in groups.
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate/lead virtual meetings.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide education to groups and 1:1.
  • Demonstrated ability to function as a team member and facilitator.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide effective consultation.
  • Basic computer literacy including knowledge of the EHR and Sharepoint platforms.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide support and guidance to community partners and patients/families.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the organizations policies procedures and standards of care.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish workload priorities in collaboration with others in a complex health care environment.
