This position is offered through the support of the Government of Canada-Canada Summer Jobs Program. All applicants must meet the minimum requirements of that program (see below).
Candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Must be between 16 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment;
- Was registered as a full-time student during the preceding academic year;
- Intends to return to school on a full-time basis during the next academic year;
- Is a student in post-secondary, vocational, or technical program;
- is a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act* and;
- Is legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial / territorial legislation and regulations.
The Office Assistant – Summer/Co-op Student provides key administrative support and ensuring smooth operations. This role includes preparing policy documents and coordinating logistics for initiatives and events. This position offers a great opportunity to develop skills in a collaborative, professional environment.
Qualifications
Education and Professional Certification
- Pursuing a post-secondary education in Arts, Humanities, Journalism, Business, Communications, Public Policy, or a related field.
Experience
- Familiarity with working in an office or professional work environment, or related experience.
- Experience using computers and standard office software applications, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Skills and Characteristics
- Ability to complete tasks independently and in a team environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to form professional working alliances.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to adapt to new situations.
- Effective time management and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize.

Duties and Responsibilities
Working closely with the Policy Writer and Communications Manager, the summer student will:
- Help align our policies with accreditation standards.
- Transition older policies into an updated and standardized format.
- Migrate documents from an old site to a new SharePoint site.
- Support communication initiatives and events.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Additional Requirements
The incumbent is responsible for completing all mandatory training requirements for the position as per agency policy and guidelines.
